Hello, I have a Craftsman Model 358353692, 2.3 16" chainsaw that I can't keep running.
I just went through it and found that the fuel line was split in 2 different places.
After the fuel line replacement the saw just does not want to stay running.
It seems that when the choke is on, you give it a pull, it won't start.
Then you take the choke off and full throttle, start it and it runs for a few seconds and then it starts bogging and stops.
Occasionally you get it started this was and as long as you keep it almost wide open, it runs for a minute or 2 then as soon as you let it down closer to idle, it won't rev back up and eventually it stalls.
I went through to check if the fuel line was pinched but did not find anything. Maybe it is just not easily pulling in the fuel from the tank and running dry??
Any ideas?

fuel tank vent plugged?
try starting saw with fuel cap loose.

If the fuel line was deteriorated to the point that it split in two places................my guess is that the carb diaphragms are in similar shape. You need to rebuild the carb. Buy a carb kit for it. Any good saw shop will have those kits. Otherwise, order from a site sponsor such as Chainsawr (look for his banner ad at the top of each page here). Scott's a good guy.

Pull the muffler off first and check the condition of the piston and cylinder. If its scuffed up you might as well save your money on the carb kit or other repairs and put it towards a replacement saw. I had a Craftsman 18" 42cc saw for about 15 years. The last 6-8 months I had it, it wouldn't start unless I gave it full throttle while pulling the cord, then it progressed to it wouldn't stay running when I had to put it down for a few seconds. My piston and cylinder were both pretty scored up, but after about 15 years of starting on the third pull every time I had nothing to complain about abd it certainly didn't owe me anything.

Not saying yours is shot for sure, but it makes sense to me to do the free check of the P&C before you put any more money into it.
