echo cs 6700 timberwolf

found one for sale. thinking about buying it. i know they are similar or are the same as the 670. can find anything else out about these saws. anyone got information or ever used one, let me know. thanks

i found it on craigslist. he removed the ad now cause of my interest in the saw. there is a sticker on the side that says timberwolf. im planning on looking at the saw in the next couple of days. ill update you what i find out more on the saw.

If Brian did that saw, it's evil, mean, wicked, and nasty ( at least as much as an Echo can be). Brian builds a great saw......

The Echo 6700 is very similar to the Jonsered 670 champ. Echo used the Walbro HDA carb over the Tillotson, but the cylinder and crankcase dimensions are the same.

I have a CS-6700. We bought it used and put a new P/C on it. Just a decent saw for the size. Power is OK, but not overly impressive anyplace. Since I own a Husqvarna 262xp and 268xp, I never found myself reaching for the CS-6700, so I loaned it out about a year ago. It comes back long enough to get the chain sharpened and check the tune......Cliff

I didn't have anything to back that up either. Just taking a guess is all. I never heard of a factory version called timberwolf. I sure would like to know what it is though.

The 6700 Timberwolf was just a 6700, 24" bar as I recall...I had one, I found it to be dead nuts reliable, a bit heavy, but loads of torque. I found that it turned fewer rpms than todays high winding saws but I was able to get much more aggressive with the rakers, it would throw out big ol chunks of wood and never miss a beat, which..even with less engine speed, resulted in a fast cut.

I used it a while then sold it on CL for 500...but it was really clean with a newer chain.

Im trying to think back, as I recall the Timberwold sticker was on the plastic shroud above the recoil...

the echo is NOTHING like the jonny 670
the only 'similarity' is basic engine size, nothing more.

The rated max power wasn't at the same level either.

anybody that has ran these 2 saws, weather side by side or years apart would be able to tell the difference in power
the 6700 was a fairly good saw, but nowhere even close to a 670, 670super, or 670champ. can't see how somebody would come up with 'similar'.....

thanks for all the info. it made not be the most powerful saw but it will be a step up from what i have now which is a echo cs 450, which i have been very happy with. it handles outstanding. im not a everyday user but it should keep me happy. cant wait to use it. and yes the timberwolf sticker is on the shrouds.
