got bored today so i figured i would do an mm on this one,, now remember i did absolutely NO,,NONE,,0 cleaning on this saw,, this is the one i got last week,, anyway got the muffler off and decided on the right side, this muffler was easy to do,, no baffles or anything in the way,, i had the deflector so i fitted it to the muffler,, drilled a 1/2 inch hole the elongated it to 3/4 inch,,, added some screen then used 3 sheet metal screws to hold it all together,, here are the pics from start to finish,,,, it seemed to wake her a a bit,,don't know how much until i get her in some wood,, i did leave the factory exit port the way it was

Nice job..o8..!!

I much prefer a MM exit pointing forward rather than to the side..!!

P.S...I would have guessed you would have sold that saw..it's really clean..!!

I do not blame you. I did this with a tig and blew a couple of holes in it and then had to go back and weld them up also. Practice Practice Practice.

I can't seem to be able to load the photos and I am also looking to upgrade my 455

Photobucket decided to charge $400 a year to have "third party linking" now. (hosting the photo and having it linked to in forums such as this)
Many individuals including myself opted to delete folders and bail on photobucket rather than pay $400 a year.....

This thread is an example of the information that was lost to the world as a result of that move on Photobucket's part....
I will never be able to trust that company again....

Here is a few pics of my 455 rancher that I tore down and put back together. It was like brand new when I tore it down.

Notice how the two handles stay together and are one piece.

Here you can see the intake showing it is a strato saw and not a lot you can do to modify it.

Not done yet.

The bottom half of the crank case is molded right into the plastic and does not come out. As you can see it is a clamshell. It also has a o-ring for sealing. I used both the o-ring and some sealer on the crank case when I buttoned it up.

Look at where the transfers are located. both on one end.

I took the covers off of the transfer ports to show how they are designed. I did open those up a little and cleaned up any casting ridges. Note that it uses a o-ring for sealing.

Then I opened up the muffler to get it to flow better and removed the limiters off the carburetor.
