My daughter wont let go of my 346, my buddy quit using his wild thing and just uses my 044, my old Husky 61 is my back up saw. I need another :chainsaw: Just about to lay down my hard earned cash for a new 555, I noticed the chatter around here has stopped about this saw. is it because as Sawtroll says it's no good because it isn't an xp, or are there too many teething problems, or what? I know a 562's got more power, but I like the weight/small bar mount of the 555. Am I doing the right thing? thanks tom

I have A 562xp and love it. But never used a 555 so i can't really comment but i dont think you lose with either saw.

Ive had both. Do not be afraid to buy the 555. Its a great little saw IMO. More power than a 346 and smoooother......and dont forget she is an autotune.

I believe all chainsaws will eventually go the DFM route. When digital fuel management works, it provides benefits such as reduced emissions, better fuel economy, better throttle response, no lean-out, and more power under the curve (i.e. a Holley 3310 vs any automotive DFI). Have to expect some teething probs. That's just par for the course with any new tech. Dealer/manufacture warranty should take care of ya in this situation.
So, might wanna read this thread:
562XP / 555

That link may not last long. If the saw hasn't been mentioned on this site that doesn't necessarily mean anything bad. Plenty to read on hear. Id buy another one over the 562 when I have to do it again.

Wait for another year....let the market run them more and the dealers more time to understand them. When working they are a dream in ones hands, but some at times exhibit smashable traits that due to the AT cannot be rectified quickly at this time.

I have had no problems with my 562, and the saw has cut a lot of firewood this season.

I used it today. Starts easy, cuts good. Re starts one pull.

If I wanted a 555, I would buy it.

The initial hoorah is over. Any threads now are either going to be "I bought a new saw" or "I have a problem with..."

Seeing how you haven't read any "I have a problem with...." threads then the silence is a good thing ;)

The 555's are awesome. Go get one and don't look back, you will not be disappointed.

Bought one in February, and never looked back. Starts great runs smooth as budder, and is getting more powerful every time I use it (as it breaks in and gets tuned in I assume). Wouldn't hesitate to buy a bigger brother like a 580 or 590 when they eventually come out.

Picked it up yesterday afternoon not much in the manual and no screwdriver! I'm up in Oregon at my daughters house, won't be home till Saturday, but her neighbor has a large tree that just fell. I'll let you know how that works out.

Yes, just keep in mind that it isn't an xp saw, so don't expect it to behave like one! :givebeer:

I have never said it isn't any good, just reminded people what it is, and what it isn't.....:D
saw troll in your estimation what are the differences in an xp and the new 555? please expound on the 555 shortcomings in relation to it not being xp. thank you

I would like to know the difference between the 555 and an xp. I have no wood to cut, but I mounted an 18 inch bar and chain and ran it. Wow is it smoooooth. Better than my 346, it feels heavier also, seems to rev very quick. Can't wait to put it into wood.

Differences are HP, bar mount, color, air filter, top cover.

The bar mount is he same as the missing (from USA) 560xp, is the air filter smaller or different in what way, and the top cover is it bigger for the filter or? And what makes the HP less, what would need to be done to give it xp power?

562xp has large bar mount, larger filter and high top cover, larger transfers for more power.

You could have it ported for xp+ power. :D

Thanks for the answer Sunfish. So the coil, carb, exhaust are the same, would need to port it. Also
change the air filter, is the air filter larger to possibly flow more air or just for more filter medium for longer service interval?

Different engine porting etc + different coil and maybe AT software.......?

Porting it can of course help, but it won't remove the other differences.

The different air filter has nothing to do with the power output - the 560xp has the same filter as the 555, and the same power output as the 562xp.

In this case there are no simple way to make the non-xp saw into the xp, as with the XT versions of the 365 vs. 372xp.
