has anyone used the new diagnostic tool for auto tune yet i have one and have a couple a questions
 
yea thanks i have acsess to husqvarna e parts and full internet so i got the mannual on there. I have downloaded all files and hooked it up to the saw i can do all tests on the bench. I was under the impression that you could run the saw while hooked up so that you could see it opperate not sure if im right or wrong

You are incorrect, at this time. At some point more will filter down and more will be unlocked to the dealer from the reader.

About 3 or 4 years ago at service school they had a 576xpat hooked up to a laptop while it was running...............so yes the ability is there, they are just taking baby steps in my view to keep dealers and customers on board and not scare everybody away in the first few years.

You can see how the saw ran at present over its last run cycle, but you cant do it while its running.......remember to hook up the unit you have to disconnect the module from the generator hence turning the power off to the module.

What are you trying to achieve by hooking up to it running that cant be achieved by examining its run cycle?
 
i got all the info that i wanted to on the bench but i took the auto tune test on husqvarna university and they talked about it being running. I could not see a way that is possible with the kit they sent out. you would have to loop the saw into the line and that is not the options that i saw but just wanted to double check thanks for the info. if you have any other info on the tool please feel free to share. today was my first day to try it out and would like to learn more about it. It seems like it will be a nice tool to use in the shop
 
Everything at this time you need to know about it is in the manual (oh great another RTFM thread!!hahaha). Think about the data it gives you and how it can be interpreted along with the error codes.

The only way to now how it works and what the data means is by using it and being able to interpret it, if that fails get a saw and torute test it. I'm not ready to do that yeat unless Husqvarna feels like giving me a free saw.

Just record all the data from each run cycle so you have something to compare to, as time progresses, then if need be yank a crank seal and see what it does.
 
here's a pic of my latest download info from my 2 latest saws, and i'd like to know a little more about what these numbers mean and how'd you go about figur'in out how to repair saw with the info you got.



i sure am havin' a fun time figur'in out this new stuff......i'm wonder'in how it's goin' for all you other guy's out there too? this looks like a good start to a very interesting thread!!!
 
I have a 575 xp saw with auto tune the dealer said that for now its a dealer only diagnostic tool is that correct or has there been some leaked software and hacking done to be able to make a cord to hook this up to the saw?

I wonder how hard it would be to make something to read the chip aftermarket wise I just got this saw havent even fired it up yet as I have been staying where there isn't any wood to cut and don't want to run it for a brief time the dealer also told me that its not good on these saws to run a higher oil to gas ration and strictly 50:1 I like to run my equipment at about 40:1 or 32:1 (more oil)

If you have more oil in your fuel, the fuel to air mix will become leaner - and I can't really understand why you want to do it in the first place?
 
It really surprises me you can't run the saw yet, there is no issue in running the saw with the Stihl set up, we even have chain with no teeth for safety and shrouds to cover the turning flywheel for safety. With the fuel injected testing you don't even have to start it , uses an external power source to trick it into thinking it is running. It can use a blue tooth connection so you don't have to have it plugged in. I'll bet Husky gets it changed pretty quick to get it to the point you use it while it is running. We can also see several hours of use with the built in memory, withing five months we'll be able to test any coils going back ten years with it as well. In the near future all their saws will use the same coil, comes blank and we'll just download what we need to in the coil and slap it on, good stuff imho
 
well more lubrication of course it can clog things up a bit with deposits but I kind of get a bit nervous if i don't see some blue smoke coming out the muffler seizing a piston or con rod is not fun thing to do lol maybe im a bit old school when it comes to ratios?

Someone will build a logic probe that can tap the line
WHEN there's a demand and enough dollars in it.

don't let the name make you think it's some pirate/bootleg place.
it's not, these people are just into tinkering, building and unlocking extra features
with anything electronic and some mechanical stuff too.
Actually some pretty interesting tricks or projects that you'll see there.

Its says it works with an atmel they used atmel aka atmega cards to hack/test satellite receivers to get all the channels when dish network used the credit card style receivers I wonder if the chip used in the autotune is like an eeprom being there is no battery to keep the memory I would think it would be a sort of flash like memory that don't require a constant supply of voltage just guessing?

yep, thats a good guess. I am hoping to get my hands on one soon to check it out. Obviously some sort of non volatile memory and it can be accessed as a mass storage device. How it is locked, no idea. Might be tied to the actual unit..then again, which I think is more likely, it might not be.....

Very interesting thread. I have no experience with these newer systems but have years with similar automotive technology. The differences of the systems are so vast and varied, it's hard to keep up. I have three different scan tools and an OBDII specific data recorder that supports J1850 data, as well as a bunch of others.

The "big brothers" have required data pairs to monitor emissions, the factories reserve several pairs for propriatary use. The ALDL connector is standardized per regulation, so as to allow testing of the system. The early systems changed the speed of the data so often, the tooling was almost outdated when we received it at the dealership level. The newer systems are fast, refresh rates exceed the capabilities of the earlier diagnostic equipment. The tools that allow data recording help this situation by allowing us to go back and read the data one page at a time. It makes sense to see the values on the screen.

One nice feature of my newer OTC scan tool is the ability to take snap shots, either by pushing a button or letting the scan tool do it when it sees a trouble code perimeter. The snap shot captures data for 30 frames on both sides of the point at which the snap shot was taken. This allows me to go back & forth one page at a time and look at the data to identify the failure (if there is one).

The other nice testing device is the "break-out box", which goes in series with certain wiring circuits and allows easy probing of the circuits without damaging the wiring or connectors, a common cause of problems.

I'll follow this with interest, love to see you guys with knowledge who are willing to share it...:msp_wink:
