It's unusual to find these older saws in this condition with original paint and decals in my neck of the woods This one was purchased new by a local farmer here in Iowa, lightly used and always kept in heated dry storage. He's now in his 80's and could no longer pull it over to start it. The saw is minty mechanically with the machine marks still clearly visible on the piston, even the original Homelite Perma Hard-Tip bar is in good condition. This is a model XP-1000 and weighs around 27 lbs ready to cut with gas, oil and bar.

about 5 years ago got a 1050 automatic out of the dump scrap pile.....was into saws but just starting to get into vintage. This thing looked like it was living under a brake lathe...had iron dust all over it. Well cleaned it up but a fuel line in it to replace the botch job that was there and ran it a bit then sold it......might have kept it if I really had the fever. Ran it one day in the summer stumping a large soft maple....that saw really make ya hot with all the vibration and hot air coming off it and the getting hotter handles....oh yah it was not light!

From my experience engine balance with Homelites is hit or miss, some I've owned have surprised me with how well balanced they were and others, well make sure your dental work is tight or it might come out.

Very nice. Don't know why anybody would consider that ugly. It has the same "nice lines" as many saws of that era. My 990d would like to have that girly little figure.
