Hello i've been on this forum countless times over the years but until now never needed the help with a saw until now. I had an old stihl 028 super which served me well for many years but finally died. My primary use for this saw is clearing land and firewood cutting all for personal use. About 6 months ago I upgraded to the ms391 and am not happy at all with the amount of oil coming out onto the bar. I have burned up 1 chain already which I never did in the 15 years I used the old stihl. After searching through a lot of the posts on this site looking for an answer I am still at a loss for a fix. I have turned the oiler screw to the maximum setting and also did the mod of widening out the 2 oiler holes on the bar and still no help. When I called the dealer he told me thats the way they all oil anymore due to EPA guidelines and thats the best it will oil on the max setting of the oiler adjustment screw. Burning up a bar and a chain and replacing them every few hours due to lack of oil isn't an idea I take kind to. Does anyone have a fix for this issue that will rectify the problem for this particular saw? I wasn't sure if there was a way to retrofit an older model oiler into this saw and if so which model and where do I get it? I use this saw 3-4 hrs a week and cannot have this problem persisting would be open to the idea of sending it off to a member who could get it oiling correctly. I should add i'm running a 20" bar with a stihl 3664 005 0072 chain.Thank you and looking for some desperate help.
