After all that money I spent on my CSM and a chiropractor when I could have just got a Contra. Actually, the method looks very efficient as CSM goes. Slow reving saw, maintaining an upward slope in the kerf, and using the pulling action of the chain to help control the saw in the cut.

We used to have a member that went by "Freestyle", I think. He could run a pretty straight line. I've cut fire pit benches for customers and friends free style. It works better than you would think, Joe.

It can't be much worse than the **** the big box stores here try to sell as lumber.

Great for rocking chair runners and giant boomerangs!

I was Lowe's one day and they had a sign bear the 2bys that said something like "We throughly inspect our lumber so you don't have to"

Who "inspects" it, blind people?

I had to go through almost a whole bundle of 2x4s (200 something) to come up with 30 usable ones.

I go to the local yard now, it's slightly more, but much better lumber.

I find freehand slabbing enjoyable. It's better than just cutting aimless cookies when dialing in a fresh built saw.

I cut up a couple of beams for a well cover in a similar fashion once. They actually turned out nice too. I did wear boots, chaps and headgear though and I held the forward grip as well.

That guys got on his safety cap didn't you notice.
accidents never happen when your not thinking about safety do they, I don't know I'm gonna go ask that guy in the cemetery that was killed by a bale of hay last year.
