What is the best .325 chain?

Okay I am too lazy to do a search! So far I have been real happy with the woodsman Pro from bailey's on my Solo. But recently I Acquired a 4620 aka 295 Poulan It came with Oregon 33 safety chain you cant bore cut with that stuff and it seemed really slow My 2550 with Low pro Woodsman chain will out cut it! Maybe I answered my own ? But I am looking for different opinions here.

That is so true! For me .325 is a new area yet to be explored. I should say I cut clean wood no sand or rocks in it or mud just nice clean wood.

Try Stihl 2x RSC and Oregon 2x LP.......

I was thinking of trying some of the new Oregon chains out there on the market now. Stihl chain is crazy priced here, so I will pass on that one.

I have to agree with Saw Troll Stihl 23RS or 23RSC is the best .325/.050 chain on the market, but if it is to expensive in your area (I think it would be worth the extra money) then I would say go to bailey's (AS sponsor) website and order a loop or two of the woodsman pro 20RC and give that a try. I'm pretty sure it is Carlton chain and most here agree it's a good second choice to the Stihl chain. It's .18 cents a driver and is non-safety chain so it should cure your bore cutting problems.

Like I said in my post I think I answered my own ? I just got my loop of Woodsman Pro from Bailey's +1 on the fast delivery!But it is so much better than the safety Oregon 33 that my saw came with. I have used it on my 645 solo with good results Seams too work very well can't ask more Now I tried it on a 4620 Poulan same as a 295. It cut's twice as fast as that Oregon safety chain!My reason for not buying the Stihl chain is, it cost more than $30.00 a loop here.This chain works great I just cut up some 20'' spruce rounds I had in the yard plus ripped them as they were full of knots good chain that Woodsman Pro and it does not cost a arm&leg.

2xLP will probably be better than 2x RS/RSC for bore-cutting, because of the raker design.....

Well I primarily use Woodsman Pro, but I did buy a loop of 23RS, and I felt that it cut a little faster, but the biggest difference was in how much longer the 23RS lasted before it needed to be resharpened. Both seemed to bore cut satisfactorily. I haven't tried 23RSC, does it cut noticeably smoother?

The narrower rakers on the 2xLP makes a difference in bore-cutting, as it does on the 7xLP in 3/8". The ramps on the drivers of the LP is very "discrete", and doesn't interfere.

RSC smoother than RS? - Yes!

I asked the same in a German-Forum. SawTroll told me, the RSC ist the best. I bougth 2 ones - And he ist right. The chain ist sharp, fast und has a good standing about resharpening. OK - the price is not low.

I used nothing but Stihl RS for years and years on the 026, but then got some woodsman's and promptly hit a rock in the middle of my first stump cut. No big loss at $10 vs $25 for RS which is what I bought to replace that one vs their $12 sharpening job, more than the chain cost!
PS, the edge does seem to have a good sharp with the pferd hand file.
