Sheesh...I think it's already 'too late' for me! By reading only the thread topic .375 for 346? I already knew there was going to be a question about putting 3/8" pitch chain on the Husky 346xp chainsaw (!)

HELP ME!!!!!
:greenchainsaw:

Anywho... enjoy your new saw!

My new edition 346 should be here Thursday! Will I be able to switch it over to .375 b/c or is it .325 only?

I have an almost new 18in Husky 3/8 bar and chain I mounted on a partner I had fixed for sale. The buyer didnt want the b & c so I still have it. Has about 30 minutes of clean cutting on it. Also have a 20 inch new replacable sprocket nose, I think Sandvic.

I haven't tried 3/8" on mine yet, but it seems strong enough to make it worth trying.

I will do an informal test with 3/8"x7 and .325x7 and 8, when the saw is run in.

Best way to run it in is with a 3/8 bar and chain 18" to 20" if the lil husky copycat can handle it LOL.

Kinda funny Husky does not Offer it in stock form with the 3/8" like Dolmar does....

Like I said as far as break in we have found that the 5100's we set up carrying 3/8" x 20" have broke in the strongest. and the ones we sold with .325 never woke up to full potential

That is a bit odd - if they really need some load on them to break in properly, I'd believe that .325x8 with LP or RSC chain should provide at least as much load as 3/8x7.

Btw, witchys 5100 still has the 3/8" bar we got it with on it, but run-in has been delayed because of the things that has happened to us this year. The rpms are now at 14280, but I think it is a bit slow on accelleration - maybe I should open the "L" a tad?

Nothing new over there, the saw or any other two stroke engine for that matter never reaches its full potential unless it receives enough load during break-in...

HELP ME!!!!!

Dr. Woodie can help.

The condition you have, while not life-threatening, can certainly effect the quality of your life, and will not go away untreated. (If Mow's reading this, he's thinking "Hey, that's kinda like the rash I got...")

The good news is that it's easily curable. Dr. Woodie is going to write you a prescription for 50cc's of Husqvarna or Jonsered, your choice, to be taken into the hands. In order to be most effective, this prescription must then be applied liberally to any nearby wood. (Now THALL's thinking it's like the prescriptions he normally gets...)

The cure is typically effective immediately, and a full recovery is evidenced by the smile which will spread rapidly across your face.

Thanks for coming in today, please see the receptionist on your way out.

Next!

how do you determine it's full potential? as i never set up a 5100 with 3/8, i'm sure i'll be getting some irate costumers back if they see this thread and believe it. i suppose i could tell them to just lean on the saw a little harder to give it more load. :monkey:

It feels VERY torquy so far, with 325x7 - virtually have to stand on it to get the rpms somewhat down.

Guess I am going to try the 8-pin next time out.......

Try it with a 3/8" x 20" on the 3/8" 7 rim sprocket, lets see if it has the GUTS

One actually has been already, one of the top modders modded one for Rocky J, and he beat his own 5100Ss at the first attempt, even with the rev limiting coil in place - admittedly that was for the three cut routine, in not too large wood....

The story was that the 346xp reved less, but had more torque.....

IM TALKING ABOUT REAL WORLD CONDITIONS not woods port specialty or a 10 second runner full alki racer. Isnt there a single member on this site that has bought one of the 346sxp's that can give us the real low down in some good ole 18" oak?????
