I was at a woodsman's field day in Tupper Lake N.Y. this past weekend and I got to see some piped saws run for the first time. I've got one thing to say,WOW. It's incredible how fast they cut. In the chainsaw "free for all"(I guess it was unlimited) the racers were cutting 8x8 pine cants, 3cuts,in about 2 to 2 1/2 seconds!!!!This was about twice as fast as the stock (or kinda stock;) )class. Most of the saws were Huskys and they seemed to be in the 4 to 5 cube class, not sure if they were using racing chain or not. The one thing I do know.... is these saws are awesome cutting machines. Dennis, Ken and the rest of you "racers", you're right piped saws cut FAST,EXTREMELY FAST.

Hot saw :)

Well The last heat in the hotsaw event was Me, Gary hammond, and Jason Miranda. Jason had a 9. (2100 with pipe) who cares, I had a stuff on my up cut for a 5.12 sec and Gary (3120 Marcell)was below 4 as normal. The saw I am running is a KD Special with an Art Martin Chain. And if you noticed the rotaxes were not winning :D !! There where some fast saws there and any body that cut below 7 sec. with any saw had racing chain. If you paid attention in the class 2 saws there was one race where some fool started with his hands on the wood (live start hands on saw race) and his 036 pro sthil still beat that other guy.... well that was me getting ready for the hotsaw event :))
There is a show in Deposit NY this Saturday. If all goes well I'll be sub 5 in the hotsaw event. There is a large stocksaw event also. The saw I will run has a KD Chain (Real Stock Saws).
Update on Tupper for next year. They plan on providing saws next year because of the BS that happend this year.

Boonville UPDATE: Boonville will run against Stihls Oshkosh WI show. And some of the Die hards are still trying to do both shows!

If any of you guys make it to Deposit you won't be disapointed. Please come up and say Hi to me. I should be at the 2 Blue Chevy trucks with a Blue Canopy, Yellow axe box.

See ya all later,
Chris Cicora

Chris, I wish I had known you were there, I could have put a face with a name. Anyway, the times I posted were from last years program. I just assumed this years times were about the same. Where the actual times in the Hot Saws less? Either way they were a lot faster than I've ever seen:eek: You say that they are going to provide saws next year, is this because of the mods. or the racing chain? The competition really seemed out of whack, I'm sure some guys had stock saws that made them look much slower. Any thoughts?

Deposit

I could make that one. Could you give me directions off of rt. 17? I went to college in Delhi.

Deposit

Deposit is 40 min. east of Binghamton at 65mph.:D Also near Handcock. Just head down hill, The firemans grounds take up what little valley there is.
Ken, you know way too much about that 2100. Yes it was an illegal saw for class 3 because it was a 6 cu instead of a 5.9 cu. But it was very stock compared to the saw that was tossed.
I had 5.3 seconds in class 3 and I was 9th! And I had what I call a great run.
Some of those small SUPER stock saws where faster because of the Alky/ nitro mix in them. And if you know saws a LOT of work needs to be done to get a stock to handle that mix. If anyone has anymore questions just give me a call between 8-10 pm eastern time, Later than that and the wife kills me then U! (585) 669-2752.

Come up and saw HI!

Later,
Chris

066 Piped saw

Is there anyone who sells a "tuned" pipe for a 066 or are they all custom? Would this be the most cost effective upgrade to get a saw more horse power and longer life?

Chris, is this typical of most saw competitions, as far as stock saws not being stock and saws running out of there class? What about racing chain?

Jeff

Ya, Wow. Here's a video I shot from the stands at Tupper this year.

It is my understanding all saws must be ported specifically ported to take advantage of a pipe, then the pipe must be made specifically for that saw.

It is also my understanding that pipes are not normaly a durability enhancer more of a race only item.

I do however have a pipe for my work saw, but my saw was ported first as a work saw to run with a modded muffler with the pipe in mind for, bar fights county fairs ect.

O, as far as power, nothing can help a two stroke like a pipe. Here is some video with Timber Wolf on the trigger.
