So after laughing through all the threads about 372's puking chain oil what do I see when I go to put my 440 away? Yup, it has puked chain oil all over the bench. I figured I would post this to be fair to the Husky guys. Anything to be concerned with? Never done it before, but the oil reservoir is almost full whereas it is usually 1/4 full.

:hmm3grin2orange: I knew it, take a look Thall, pics don't lie lol .
Really though just how big a deal is it anyway, still runs and oils,
so the tool box needs a cleaning every now and then so what!

yep,,, gotta agree with Rope,,,,, leave it @ a quarter tank till ya gotta use it,,, then toper off and run it like ya stole it!!!!

Just buy diapers for that baby saw! You probably just need some parts for your oiler. They are easy to work on a bad o-ring or worn parts is the most likely cause. The 372xp's that leak just need to be depressurized by cracking the oil cap before storage. That is not a big deal in my mind.

I was helping my neighbor cut down some rounds to stove size while we were splitting his wood. It took less than half a tank of gas so I emptied the gas and put the saw on the work bench. That was three days ago. I usually run the tank empty and the oil tank then has maybe 1/4 tank. I figured it was the almost full tank that caused the leaking. Where is the vent?

LOL, yeah lets take a look. Looks like that 440 has been used, in fact used alot. This is kinda like comparing a new car to one that has 200,000 miles on it, which one should be using oil? Ok now lets compare. Your right pics don't lie, enjoy,

Which saw ya think has the hours on it Rope, that 440 or that 372? To be fair the 346 beside it doesn't leak a drop. I do have a 30 year old 051 that leaks oil but not as bad as that 372 and I'm not fixing that 051 either,LOL

Come to think of it, I can't remember you ever mentioning fixing a saw.

Correct. However since I've been scolded for it I did order a clutch remover tool from Baileys so I can replace the oil pump once and for all. Even after I do it will still be called MR DRIPPY,LOL

Now Tom, ya know you like that saw and I don't see no wet spot, but
I trust ya it must leak! I will probably never wear the two I already have
out for 10 years so; I won't be bidding but is that chain on backwards?

Like I've always said, it runs good, real good. I don't mind it but two tanks of oil to one tank of fuel is abit much. I'm gonna replace the oil pump and get it right. Then its going back on the shelf until one of you Husky loving fellers show me how much yaw really love a 372, whatcha mean you wont be bidding, I thought you loved the 372, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Well my finances are a bit touchy at present! It won't be hard to sell
though, now parting with it, well that will be up to you!

You got that right Tom! I bought this saw off a logger. The saw had been used hard for a year and needed some TLC. I rebuilt it with help from my dealer and it has been a reliable saw for three years of cutting firewood. Some day I want to buy a shiny new saw, probably a 660 but I'm keeping the 440, its a good size for me.
