I ran one of these just once, and holy cow did it ever cut! It would just tear through the wood like nothing, it was actually pretty scary! I kind of want to get my hands on one.

Why/how do those things cut so awesome? I've never seen a Homelite or other saw of that vintage cut that well.

the Pro Mac 700 just isn;t quite the same and is a lot less common. the old 10-10's look really cool and have an awesome sound that tells everyone within 1/4 mile I AM RUNNING A SAW STAY OUT OF THE WAY!

The PM700 owns the 10-10. 70cc vs 54cc...

Yeah, but I don't see them on Ebay or at flea market sales like I do the 10-10's, in fact I don't think I have ever seen one, partially because a lot more 10-10's were manufactured and sold, its kind of Mac's XL-12.

The 700s are out there, it's just that it takes over $400 to get a really clean on now.

I have an early one. It is fast, it is loud, it is all magnesium and there a million of em out there for parts. The earlier 10-10's seem to run stronger than later models, but I did add a chainbrake clutch cover from a later model. 700 is a good saw but harder to get parts for and not cheap.

I got to cut with a 10-10 a few months ago. I liked it too. Cut like an 041, but with a bit less grunt.

Here's what ya' need to find

A Super Pro70, a blast to run.

I work for a med. size city we have three 700/7-10's and a 10-10s that we still use and I have friends with them also. Good old tough saws but the parts are hard to find. We used to have a mac dealer in town thats why they used to buy them but in the last years he passed away. So as the macs give up we have been buying new Stihls. If you can find these saws in good shape alot of times they are cheap power. I used to run a mac 610 when I was younger and it was a good saw. But they are loud, I always tell the guys a work Macs are the best way to turn premix into noise.

Yeah, my 700 is loud...and that is with the reed valve on the muffler. Remove the reed valve and it borders on unbearable. I like all the painted magnesium...

I've got a couple 610's.Great saws. You just have to get used to that wide body.

I have a 10-10 automatic. Runs well with a 16" bar. It useally stays at my buddies house to use now and then. . I always liked my Poulan 306A better.

I just sold my PM605 this week

Nice, I will have to get one and mod out the muffler so I can fire it up early on Sunday mornings. I have always though my little EMAB was pretty loud.

A 10-10 or 700 on Sunday morning with no reed or a modded muffler will probably get the 5-0 involved...:)

Yeah, but can it drown out my air compressor, dust collector and stereo?

I had one. I loved it. I gave it to a friend who needed a good used saw. He was looking at new 290's, and didn't want to spend that much. I let him try my old mans 029, and my 10-10. Needless to say the 10-10 smoked the 029, and he went home with the 10-10. He stays warm now.

I have been the proud owner of a Pro Mac 555 since 1978 when my father gave it to me brand new. I have felled and bucked for firewood many logs since. This saw was and still is awesome. Recently I had to reseal the fuel tank. Nothing else has ever been done to this saw other than new chains. It still looks almost like new. I don't know the differences between this saw and the 10-10s. I think they are the same size physically. Does anyone know the idle speed and WOT specs for this saw?

Thanks in advance,
Steve
