Man that mountain logging is rough compared to the mid west way of just driving the skidder up to the butt and grappling and taking off.
That soft wood is not worth near what a good veneer walnut or white oak is worth huh?
Back in 1978 my buddies dad had some timber bought. 150 trees price was 180,000.00 Mostly walnut and white oaks.

Does anybody know any of these guys??? Thats my first question. I got news for ya, what they are doing my friends is the easy way of doing things... OMG. We've worked on alot of mountains like that. We'd take our skidders back and forth and go a little ways, then pull the logs little by little up to the clearings and the skidways. We deal with everything that they do out there here, but dang, we never had the nice equipment like they do... DAMN!!! This show rocks too!!!! Only thing, trekking through about 3+ feet of snow makes things a bit different here in the NE. I was cutting logs last week and couldn't believe how deep it was trying to get through. Snow was up to my waist in most places and trying to run was he(double hockey sticks)!!!!! Anybody else having this same problem in the NE??? Man it's been a rough year.

Cisco-im not loggin but tryin to pull firewood out-PIA right now. last couple days we've had nothing but rain and sleet. supossed to drop to freezin next couple days. hope that stiffens the ground up a bit. be nice to have a bit of snow on the ground though-rather have that than mud at times

In 1966 I remember shoveling the snow out of a hole aand then shovelingf it off the roof to get the snow off the roofs on the Fulton chain.

Yea dude, we got about 14" of snow, 3 inches of rain and 2 inches of ice from friday-today. It's terrible. Ice/snow/ice/snow/ice/snow makes it heck to try and get anything done. This year has been terrible on wildlife too. Alot of dead deer and other animals that can't get through the snow and ice to get food. It's really sad. Where in the heck is Sherburn, NY??? I'm near plattsburgh, but south in the adirondack park about 20 miles...

Lots of cool stuff, but it has the same problem as Ice Road Truckers. "Fonzi's Bike Syndrome". They spend too much time setting up each story segment and repeating footage. For those who remember some of the really awful later "Happy Days" shows, Ralph ran over Fonzi's bike, and got so shook up he put his car in reverse and ran over it again, and again, and again.
Come on, Ice Road Truckers, how many times did we see that graphic with the truck going through the ice....2-3 times a show. But, I was pretty happy overall with the show. They just have to learn how to "get on with it" and tell the story.

So far good show, but a little slow with the setups. Hopefully they pick up the pace and show more of the near fatal action stuff. Has all the makings of a great series but needs to stay on the edge

Yeah I was a little disappointed, I think I might have seen 5 trees get cut, I could care less about a guy putting a choke on a tree and draggin it. I want to see big trees going down on a crowd of liberal activists.

Is that what you're waiting for...the "near fatal action stuff"? Will that be good enough for you or would you rather see somebody actually get killed?
I'm sure there's a lot of people like you watching for just that reason.
Pay a little more attention to how tough these guys are and how hard they work. Learn to appreciate the skill with which they do their jobs. Try to recognize how inventive and multi-talented a lot of these people are. I doubt you could stay up with them.
There might be a lot of ignorant, sensation seeking, poorly informed, and morally bankrupt people such as yourself watching this show for the same reasons you are. I'm glad I don't know any of them.

I for one, want to see the techniques & machinery that they use. I dont want any drama, that ruins a good show.

So far its defanitely made for TV. Not bad but could be worse. The hoister staged that close call for you morons that want to see blood!
Ahh, I don't see people really wanting to see other people getting maimed out there, I don't care to see it anyhow. But I would love to see really big trees getting felled and topping them and the techniques used. And of course the Big Huskys and Stihls. I just doubt this show will produce that, it wouldn't be anything most people would find interesting enough to keep watching except people like "us" I have my hopes...just not that high. we'll see!
Lotta those tank yarders around here but they don't use them as much as they use to. I enjoyed the show the scenery looks just like the hills behind my house.
Don't care for some of the format! Time and money is of the essence BS! Very few Gypos left! Almost everyone on rigging is paid by the hour! Oh well, at least the cab lizards are still the ones pizzin and moanin, while the guys in the brush make things happen! Some things never change!
