Well, I just wanted to say hello. I'm in NW Indiana, and do a little bit of cutting for hobby/firewood. I have an older (1980?) Stihl 028 Super that my Dad bought new back before I was born. It has now become mine, and I really enjoy it. It works great for what I am doing.

Will this manual cover my saw?

Other than that, just wanted to make myself known. :chainsaw: :chainsaw:

I'll be the first to say, "Welcome!". You'll fit right in with your 028 Super. They seem to be the fad around here right now. PM me your email addy if you'd like an Illustrated Parts List for it. I may have the service manual too in PDF format.

To answer your original question "yes it will very well", and welcome aboard, I hope you don`t get CA but it is likely. Pioneerguy600

Hey there neighbor. There are a couple of us here from Lowell. I do a little firewood cutting for my wood burner. Also have a little stump grinding business. Lots of good folks and a ton of info on this forum. Cheers
Greg :)

Well, I am kinda lookin for a decent Stihl 361 right now. Also, I am waiting for garage sale season to start coming around....

If any of you local boys would like to go do some four wheelin' or drinkin' or shootin' or anything else that ends in a in', let me know!!

You're gonna fit in right fine here, pardner!

I bought mine in LN condition, hardly used, from CBailey on eBay for $400.

Nice score! I'm waiting on a real clean looking 036 pro that was 297 BIN on fleabay. Hope it runs as good as it looks. I think I am going to have to learn to take a digital picture that is not a huge file. I have a Canon digital, and I have never read the manual, (which I think might be written in Martian.........me no high tech wiz):monkey: .
I will try to lower the resolution at the camera end, then I will be able to post pics. Oops. I guess I digress a bit.
I would like to try out an MS361 sometime, and see what all the fuss is about

Yes, promising start - and the 361 weights like the 028, but has a lot more power!!!!

What kind of race car parts do you sell?

Well.... I work for one of the largest turbocharger vendors in the US. I don't really want to put out where I work on the internet, but, if any of ya'll want to go fast.... shoot me a pm....

The 028 didn't let me down last night. I do have a couple questions though:

1. I find myself cutting a lot of logs that are already down, and occasionally, I run into the dirt. I want to get a chain that won't dull so fast. Maybe some type of a semi chisel? I am trying to do some research and find what I need, but I am just overwhelmed with all the information here....

2. On the same note, I want to get a full chisel chain as well for blasting through wood. What are everyone's thoughts on carbide blades?

3. Are the Stihl Rollomatic bars good? Should I go with an Oregon?

4. I need to get a new drive sprockets, a couple of extra starter pawls, clutch springs, sparkplugs, etc... Is there a good place to order all of these types of parts online?

Sorry for all the newb questions. I figured this would be the best thread to put them in though.

Thanks for your help!!!
