Which is better built in terms of reliability and longevity, Sears Craftsman or Homelite.

Usually I get 2 months out of a Sears, doing maybe on average 3 minutes saw time per work day. I usually get 25 to 30 cc models. One only lasted 6 days and burned out the piston ring due to an air leak. That pissed me off and is making me think of going Homelite. How do they rack up for durability compared to Sears?

If it were me, I would probably buy a 180 Stihl or a small Echo. The smaller ones aren't drastically more expensive than the disposable brands, and they will last a lot better than any modern Sears or Homelite. You're getting 2 months out of your saw now. If a 180 costs a 1/3 more, then after 3 months it will have more than paid for itself.

So what are you doing to these little saws to burn them out in so short of time?? They should last allot longer than that, do you let them warm up before putting them to work for those 3 minutes?

Ha ha ha ha!!!!! Sears Craftsman is made by Husqvarna and is their low size machines. Did you know Husqvarna is the same company that makes Poulon and Sears Craftsman and Jonsared professional chainsaws? Ha ha ha ha.

They're both junk, so it makes no difference which one you buy, really.

+1, there are so many real brands out there so get a good one. Husky, Jred, Stihl, Efco, Ehco, Redmax, Dolmar, Shindaiwa. Pick a real saw, use it properly and it will last you allot longer than 2 months.

Actually, Poulan is owned by Husqvarna, not made by them. Modern Sears saws are Poulan equivalents. Sears has had a lot of different saw manufacturers.

May be the same company but not the same stuff. Apples and oranges!!

So really what are you doing to kill these saws in 2 months?

What a troll. The guy has 28 post and has started this thread to evidently attack husky judging by the post above, has started a Husky vs Stihl thread, and pretty much talked crap about the PNW in the Axmen starts with Hendrix playing a Dylan song...he's just here to flame

If heavy equipment can do the work of 100 guys who you gonna hire?

If you need tree removal service and land clearing, tree surgery, commercial or residential, go to this web site and look up Buddy's tree service that is my outfit. Got roughly 1 million dollars worth of heavy equipment and all the Allens you can possibly want to hire. My family has been in the logging business for 200 years and between all the cousins and second cousins etc there are about 40 of us, all loggers.

1 million in equip because they are counting the 900k they've spent on craftsman and Homelite saws over that period... 40 of them at a new saw every 6 days to 2 months of life? Yeah numbers add up I think :greenchainsaw:

What about a poulan wild thing are one of them other pretty colored saws. have you seen the macs out there. Who needs a 441 are 460 when you could get one of those. The homelite is just to plain looking!!!!!

Dude you really are a freakin RETARD aren't you???? What the hell's up with you today????????? Looks like we got a new Troll on this site. Plus you can't spell worth a lick either. Husqvarna makes Husky saws, thats it. Actually I think Electrolux owns Husqvarna and Poulan.

Nope, not any more.

Usually I buy about 2 or 3 Huskvarnas a season. This year I'll save money and buy some Homelites at Walmart and keep taking them back when they burn jugs and pop piston rings.

You will be spending alot of time in Wal-Mart instead of the woods. Yep you'll be saving alot of money with that brilliant ideal , but you sure as hell won't be making much. You may want to check into getting hired as a door greeter. I'm sure WalleyWorld would hire you
