Thought I'd managed to escape without infection but was mistaken.

Not quite this good but close.

$30.00 The paint on the bar is barely worn on the upper side and completely intact on the underside. I had to look hard to find any wear on the sprocket. I pulled the plug and inspected the cylinder, could see no damage through the plug hole. Connected a jumper from the plug to ground and gave her a pull, spark (getting excited) reinstalled plug. No evidence of garbage in the fuel tank, added gas poured a little into the carb choked her pulled a few times and she sputtered. Turned off choke tugged several times and she was running. Seemed to run and accelerate well, paid the man and left. When I got it home I filled the tanks and found she won't oil. I split the case and found a solid state ignition; both fuel lines cracked at the carb. Nothing obvious with the oil lines. It pressurizes the oil tank to force oil to the chain. Any idea where the pressure originates? I have the manual and IPL. Hoping for some guidance from you.

There is a checkvalve that goes to the crankcase on some remingtons. They can go bad and sometimes baroil gets burnt in the cylinder if the valve is faulty.

Thanks Dave;
I trimmed the bad portion of fuel lines and reconnected. Then I ran a piece of piano wire through all the oil lines, seemed clear. The pressure line had a kink below the tank and the pressure valve seemed stiff. The oil pick up did not want to allow breath to pass under pressure or vacuum. I wasn't able to get into it but dragging the wire around inside allowed air movement, seems OK now. She's back in one piece; I'll try it again tomorrow.

She Oils!

I read the owners manual it said something about thinning the bar oil with kerosene. I don't have any. Charcoal lighter I did have; I thinned a little oil and blew into the tank until the thinned liquid filled the oil lines. started her up and she oils. I filled the tank with straight bar oil and she's healed. Do I hear a "PRAISE THE CHAINSAW GODS?" I have 2 trees to close to the house that need to be limbed then dropped, this saw is perfect for that. Sweetie collects downed limbs and puts them in the saw buck . This little saw will also work for cutting them to wood stove length. Its small enough even she can handle it and for such a major investment if it quits operating it doesn't matter. I'll leave fuel (av-gas mix) and bar oil in it in the barn (druggie roulette).

Lou, somewhere archived on here is a good diagram of a Homie XL oiler system. Should be nearly like yours if ya need it. Good to see you again.

Thank you Fubar;
I created a link for my next time. I think my problem was a kinked hose (pressure) just below the oil tank. The kink is now in the tank opening, forced the kink to open and shortened the hose enough to eliminate the need to kink.

It isn't a 029/290.......:greenchainsaw:
OK Troll, now be honest. If you HAD to cut a 24" tree, buck it into firewood lengths and the 290 and the little Remington yardmaster were the only two saw available, which one would you use. I'm not knocking the little Remington Yardmasters although I did like the older Mighty Mites better.:cheers:

Easy, I'd take the Stihl, as it is a lot larger - but the Rem doesn't pretend that it is a capable woods saw, just a Yard-Master........

She actually looks quite a lot like the Emab/Huron bay saws, that was sold under a "million" brands - but not quite, anyway.........

Got a Remington Super Yardmaster for restoring. Can anyone help with how the oil link hooks up? A pic would be nice. The existing link is just hanging, it is hooked on one end to the trigger but the other end, who knows? Can't find an actual pump.

Are you still looking? I just picked up one of these saws for $10. It runs great, but it leaks gas out pretty bad. I think I have a leak in the gas tank.
