Got my compression tester today!

AND....Am I relieved!

I tested the 3 old saws I've had for many years, plus the 028 Super I just got, I ran those old saws long before I came to this spot and learned you just HAD to run synthetic oil at exactly 50 to 1. (sorry Gary)

I've run EVERY kind of cheap oil (mix and bar) in the 3 old ones for the last 15-20 years (occasional, firewood cutting) Plus (heaven forbid) the cheapest gas available. Never emptied the tanks or ran em dry. Never knew any better!

The two old 028's and the 032 tested 160 PSI and the 029 S (ran this one the most) was 150.

Not trying to take anything away from all I've learned here....just trying to make the point...old Stihls...must be...tough!

not bad compression.I guess there just getting broken in. I guess if you don't run them hard and just for occasional use they will run for a long time as long as they have some kind of oil in them. We all know synthetic is better. But hey its a stihl its going to last 20 years regardless.

Do not worry they are all still running good. You may be learning saws but I will say you have probably forgotten more about guns than 99% of guys will ever learn. I have to say 99% as there is always someone who wants to argue.

Now , keep looking for a cheap single six, Model 12, and 1897 for me. I say "cheap" but we all know those are not cheap.
