OK, here's the deal...

My neighbor has offered to give me a free saw. He has 3 to choose from and I have the pick of the litter. Now don't get all reved up, because these are only homeower saws. Too bad. But, a free saw is a free saw, so I won't complain.

All 3 saws are used in good shape and run well. All have 16" bars. The contestants are:

Saw #1 Poulan Pro 42 cc
Saw #2 Poulan Pro 42 cc
Saw #3 McCulloch 35 cc (35/16)

The Mac seems to leak bar oil a little more than normal.

I am in favor of the poulan pro. If you take care of them, they will get the job done. Maybe it can be your first saw to mod. Good thing that it has a 16" bar, they usually come with 18" or 20" and that is too long for that CC

Choice number 2 seems similar to choice number 1, so that seems like 2 choices overall, but..... I would choose the larger discplacement. It would be nice to get some pics so we could see the actual Poulan model. Older is better, generally speaking, with the Poulans.

Free is good, very good.

Poulan Pro #1 runs a little better and the bar is in better shape. Looks like I'm the proud owne of a "homeowner" saw. Should be OK for light duty stuff. Also, when the neighbor comes over to borrow a saw, I know which one I'll load out...

We really know too little about those saws......:)

Do you have something up your sleeve?

got a 3516 from a friend the other day. runs like poop.
read on here that the plastic intake warps and leaks.
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
as much as it hurts to say it.... i would go with 1 of the poulans.:dizzy:

Its ok come out and say your really buying a new saw...and your neighbor is a Walmart.

OK if your "neighbor" is going to "give" a saw then gate the one that says Wild Thingy on it and you too can have a Panty dropper

:greenchainsaw:

I chose the best of the 2 "twin" Poulan Pro saws. Not bad - looks like it only has a few hours on it. Original chain and is still sharp.

Upon closer inspection, the Mac 35/16 has a bent bar, so that made the decision pretty easy.

I just love free stuff.
