sc252. lever to raise cutter head is messed up..just the weight of the lever causes head to raise???

Is there a spring or something that needs replacing. I have to hold the lever in the neutral position or it drops down and the cutting head raises.

Yes, it sounds like the guts of the valve are bad. You can easily remove the end cap which I believe has 4 allen head screws and find the problem.

Are they a common part or do I have to get it from vermeer?

You may visit a local hydraulic shop in your area and they should be able to help you.

I took the end cap off, there is a big Phillips head screw under it. I tightened it and it works perfect. Easy fix....
