It's kind of small for milling, but if you don't lean on it, it will handle small soft stuff OK. I think the biggest bar we had on our XL 12's and Super XL's were 24". I still have 5 or 6 of them with 16" bars. The mount is the same as the bigger XL saws. I had an XL 924 given to me with no bar on it, so I put one of the 16' ones on it. That was kinda neat. I think the 924 is 82 cc's. I put a 30" bar on it and it would mill Poplar as big as I could get through it. Don't force it, it will last a while. I milled with my Super 1050, 100 cc's, for about 5 years, and it still runs good. I finally retired it and got a new Stihl 660, and it's a world of difference. So much quieter and smoother. I don't mean for you to run out and buy a new 1200 dollar saw. But, if you decide you like milling, start saving for a bigger, newer saw with anti vibe. After milling with the old 1050 all day I could hardly bend my wrists and elbows. The vibration is a killer, Joe.

Ya I think I may just find something else for milling and keep the 16 inch bar on it and throw a full skip on it and blast some ****
