Hey Folks,
I need to replace the clutch on my Stihl MS311 (group 1140). Will a clutch for a a MS 310 (group 1127) work? The MS 310 clutch photo on Northwoods Saws looks identical to the MS 311 clutch on my little saw.

Thanks heaps,
Weedhopper

The retainers are bad...the springs are probably bad too. I'll rebuild it, but I was going to replace it before I rebuilt it.

The clutch assembly is close. The only difference is that the springs on the 311 assembly are different from the 310. The center piece and shoes are the same. How much different, I don't know.

MS 311 Clutch.JPG This is the reason I'm replacing the clutch. I put a used clutch on and ordered three new retainers as well as a new clutch drum needle bearing.

It's well used for sure. I'd throw on a new rim sprocket while you're at it. From what little I can see of that one, it looks pretty worn.
