Just switched to SRT running a rope wrench on 11.7mm posion ivy calamine tying a Schwabisch with 8mm ocean (30") from sherill and I'm not liking the way it's biting I already know the cord is too long but how much shorter do I need to go 28"-?
Also would another material be better on my line Beeline ext ext? Thanks

I run 28" armorprus(?) with a distel or swabish( depends on my mood) but that's for my hitchclimber setup. One of my coworkers uses a wrench but he prefers the vt and keeps with a thicker rope. Try changing hitches. Also if your hitch of choice seems to creep a bit, you can twist your eye before clipping it in. A twist or two can help fine tune the set up.

I use 30" 8mm HRC in a 4-3 VT with my rope wrench and hitchclimber and it works perfectly on Tachyon rope, which is a firmer but similar rope. I tried 8mm Ocean and it didn't grab as reliably. I've also used 8mm and 9mm Sterling RIT cords but HRC is the best I've found.
