I bought a wood chipper last week, it ran and chipped. Was leaking gas from the carb and it stopped starting because i messed up the wiring by bumping it. Took it to the mechanic, he says when he starts it it leaks so much gas from the carb, exhaust manifold and 1st plug that we shouldn't start it anymore. So now I need to find a straight six engine from '83 or earlier, just figured I'd post here in case someone has one for sale.

Are you replacing the engine because of a gas leak? I would think
you could rebuilt your carb or buy a rebuilt one to cure you gas
leak.

I have it getting looked at again now. The carb is leaking, but there is also at least one manifold crack that is spitting some kind of fluid. I think we should be able to get it fixed good enough. The first mechanic I went to had me convinced I needed a new engine. I think most of what he thought was a gas leak was the radiator leaking water. It's at a reputable service center now so we'll know soon.
