Anybody using Yale Kernmaster for DRT? It is 11mm, nylon braid.
Will this work well with friction hitches? I weigh 225 without equipment.
Any recommendations for prusik cord?
Thanks

Do you already own it? If so it should work fine, any of the firmer 8 or 9 mil hitch cords should work fine. I like hrc and epicord the best.
If you are just looking at buying a new rope I would stick to double braids for a few reasons.

Thanks grengreer. No, was going to purchase in the next few days. I will climb using ascenders, and then switch to friction hitch. I was thinking kernmantle would tolerate the ascenders better. If you have suggestions, I would like to hear.

So youre going to ascend srt and then switch over?
I would still stick to a double braid, something with a poly core. The yale bluemoon family of ropes is very much static and super durable. They would be ideal for what you are describing. Another option to think about is a "secret weapon" system. Google should be able to explain it, if not I'll do my best to.
