Just wondering if it's worth replacing the tip on this husky 24"20170526_224759.jpg 20170526_224520.jpg 20170526_224912.jpg 20170526_224813.jpg 20170526_224851.jpg 20170526_224627.jpg

It's salvageable. Just need a new tip and the rivets to put it in with.

I actually need to get one before too long as well. Teaching a buddy to fall ended up with the bar pinched and then the nose bent when I unloaded the trunk off the bar. I got it straightened out pretty good, but I think the bearings pooped the bed.

$60 for a new bar $42 for a husky tip and $22 for an Oregon tip. I think I'll try the Oregon

30 seconds on a drill press = old tip is off
Couple minutes pounding rivets
Couple minutes grinding rivets flush

I don't know what you make an hour, but that just saved $40 in less time than a cigarette.

The tip needs to be replaced and $22 (plus S&H?) is the cost. So in effect, the new bar really only costs $38 (plus S&H). No fuss, fresh rails, no clogged oil holes, pretty paint, zero miles, etc.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I think I'll do like Tenderfoot says new bar new tip. I've never changed one but it doesn't look very hard.
