Anyone use an F450 as a chipper truck?

I have no issues with my 4500, it holds 11 yards of chips and stack 10' logs in it without an issue.

Branch Manager Grapple Hardox Steel vs. Regular?

I had a power rotate grapple for a full sized skid steer and much prefer the knock around BMG on my SK800. The Hardox unit looks pretty cool with several upgrades other than just the Hardox. How much extra is the Hardox unit? 56" grapple works well for me. In general I feel my grapple can...

Best Husqvarna Shop in the Northeast?

Seacoast Power Equipment in North Hampton, NH. The parts manager has been in the industry for a lifetime in many roles and is a goldmine of information. Eliot Small Engine in Eliot Maine. Great saw shop and popular with the pro equipment users.

    Kinetic log splitters... technical questions.

What size logs? How many way wedge on the TW5? Was it a new TW5 or legacy TW5? I own both and have video comparing the two splitters and split times in equal size logs that don't require the log lift. IMO the TW5 benefits more from a 2nd guy than the Supersplit. I want smaller split wood...

When is saw noise acceptable to begin?

I live in a suburban area with 2 acre building lot requirement for new homes but the majority of the existing homes have lots down to a 1/4 acre. On several occasion over the years the politicians have worked towards implementing a noise ordinance and I have fought that an won until a few years...

    Dump trailer

I've had several new dump trailers over the years and have always sold them for more than I paid. I'm not a huge fan of towing equipment in them as it can be hard to get the tongue weight right. That said, my mini excavator and mini skid steer tow well in them. I've had up to a 7ton 14' dump...

Chipper on front of Utility Trailer

Both A and B are good options. You could consider changing your truck to a flatbed with headboard and haul logs on your truck.

Thinking of a taller wedge for a Super Splitter

I think it all comes down to how you plan to use the splitter. The forces add up fast when you increase the height of the wedge and ram. I made a removeable 4 way wedge for my original SS (modified J model). The wings and additional top wedge were set back. (check out the youtube video) I...

    which mini skid?

The models listed are all different sizes which make the question tougher. Since I have a sk800, I'd consider the Sk1550 and sell one of my full size skid steers. If your like the size machine you have now and are looking to setup a 2nd crew, buy the one that is similar in size.

OAK, easier to split green or seasoned ?

I can't say I've noticed a major difference dry or seasoned. No doubt that splitting frozen wood is easier IMO. As someone else said, splitting from the outside is key. If I don't make much progress in making the first split across the middle of the log in a couple of hits I will change to...

2 saw plan for hardwood property

I've run lots of different sized saws with various bar lengths over the years. I've found I really like 20" on a 550XP and 372XP especially with trees up to 24" in diameter. I have a 372XP setup with a 24" bar but would likely still use the 372XP with 20" bar because I already have it out. I...

    Log Splitter Build

I really like how Eastonmade doesn't constrain the logs in the vertical direction. The individual splits can go down.

    Log Splitter Build

I haven't looked much lately but I've seen box wedges in-line and staggered as you propose. The wood needs a place to go and staggering seems like the logical solution, it just comes down to how to minimize it. I made a 4-way box wedge for my supersplit where minimizing full length push thru...

Really really really want a tractor

I have spend significant money buying new trucks, tractors, and equipment just before emissions regulations have impacted these items. I just didn't want to be the Guinee pig. I feel enough time has past and the DEF systems have been proven so that won't significantly impact future purchases...

Who uses this log dolly Logrite any good??

I bought mine at the very beginning of Covid so the market has changed a bit. A contract climber I was using had bought one and told me he would bring it along for the day for free to convince me to buy one. I was on the phone with the dealer the next day. At the time there were a couple...

Who uses this log dolly Logrite any good??

I have a Ditch Witch SK800 with bucket, forks and BMG grapple. I absolutely love it and feel it has been a game changer. It can do so much more than you would expect and fast.

Who uses this log dolly Logrite any good??

I haven't used one but am also interested in hearing some feedback. I was going to buy the Sherrill log dolly but ended up just getting the Harbor Freight dolly for $100 on the day I needed it over a decade ago. The biggest thing I like about the Sherrill dolly is how close you can get the log...

Charge for removing, not grinding, stumps?

Around here it's $150 per 10 wheeler load to dump stumps. I think I'd be reluctant to pull stumps with the forklift but it may be nice for loading out. I've pulled plenty of stumps with a skid steer and it's something I really try to avoid, I believe it puts a ton of uneven stress on the...
