    Aluminum axe scabbards

I bought one a few years ago, I prefer a wooden handle though. They say the handle is unbreakable but I proved that to be wrong. They did send me another free with no questions asked. The back of the head is rather small and it wasn't flat so I had to file it down. I know one fire crew that...

    Totaled 361

Actually the tank was busted, and the coil and flywheel rub together now on a couple of points. The on/off switch was completely torn off. Some one mentioned bore cutting, we actually use it alot when we are directionally felling, or when wedge placement is critical. He didn't consider the...

The guy is a good kid (saving up money to go to law school next fall) strong as an ox and a quick learner. He had never picked up a saw until 6 weeks ago, he still has alot to learn but I would dare say he is already better than most at this stage. I still have to step in and give him advice...

I'll keep it around and use it the next time I teach a S-212 wildfire saws class as a visual aid for the safety section.

    Totaled 361

My crew has been falling hazard trees along a park road this week that had died off due to a new water line installed a couple years ago. One of my guys was felling a 10" red oak toward the road when he slid a wedge in set the saw behind him when he went to drive the wedge he saw the tree...

    Carburetor Problem?

Thanks for the all the advice. I was up at my dad's today and he offered to take it to his saw guy before I tore it apart. The problem was a stuck needle valve. $8 dollars later we took it out and cut and split a cord and half of fire wood with his new splitter. I suppose the stuck needle is...

    Carburetor Problem?

I'm trying to get a Husqvarna 61 running and I am starting to think I have some carb issues. I have spark (tested), good fuel, clean filter. I checked and then set the Carb with a 61 manual I found online, 1 out on L and H. When I gave it a small squirt of starting fluid it fired up strong...

    Empress wood

We kill those reguarly (exotic invasive), too bad we have to leave the logs lay since they can have such value. Removal would be near impossible anyway, since we ususally aren't working near roads.

What We Would Like To See New/Changes In Saws!!!

It seems to me that over the years all types of equipment manufacturers are trying to become "user friendly". Actually I think it has made things more difficult especially for those that use their saws daily. We have 4 different models of stihl in our stable and each is completely different...

    hopefully no one does this...

Tried to access this delightful series of videos today to show a coworker and I got the message that they were "removed by the user" that posted them. I guess he got enough e-mails telling him how stupid his friend is. No comment on why he did for sure though. I hope he didn't have to remove...

    First time milling

Is there much Butternut up in PA? We have it in KY but it's on it's way out, a canker caused by a fungus is killing them. 50 years ago it made up 10% of the bottom land and now where I work we only have 100 out of 53,000 acres. Just wondering?

    FORESTER pro chisel chain

I've got two loops that are the Oregon/Windsor version that were thrown in when I bought a used saw but both were new. I figured the were junk since he didn't charge me and I hadn't heard of them. But I've been impressed with them so far.

    hopefully no one does this...

Just to clear my mind after watching this awful display I joined Youtube just to send him a message to stop until he knows what he is doing. The worst part is that people think this is a good thing. There is actually a message praising the guy... "if someone wants to use a chainsaw you made the...

I watched a few more of the videos and the only PPE he uses is a helmet, but not the screen or ear muffs. Video 8 he is drop starting with out any chaps. I would have bought the chaps before the helment. This guy is going to end up hurting himself or one of his buddies. Hopefullly he has a...

    Chainsaw neglect

Why do people refuse to maintain their equipment but somehow believe it should always work?:bang: **RANT**My job reguarly has me using a chainsaw and out of the four of us who do in my office I'm the only one who gives a flip about keeping the maintenance up. My thought is if you do the...

    Ppe

I wear the PPE, when I'm at home or at my job. I did wear leather Georgia fire/logger boots until last week when they partially stopped my ax..... 16 stiches later my boss wants me to buy chainsaw boots instead of the loggers. Any recommendations? I've seen the plastic ones from Viking...

    Stump removal w/chainsaw or sawsall?

I've used the alpine magnum it actually works fairly well. Very portable, it can be carried just about anywhere. Sounds like you've figured out how to get rid of the stump but for future reference, if you can find someone who has one.

    Husky 61 value

I bought a Husqvarna 61 a few months ago for $250, with two new chains and hardnose bar. The saw shop had got it in on a trade and he tuned it up checked it out and guaranteed it to be a good saw. So far it has been a very strong saw. I've been using it to fell some red oaks, and on my mill...
