    Asian longhorn best control?

D Mc Short answer is yes, every study I have read all confirm that flowers and pollen do have traces of imidacloprid. However most research I have found shows little adverse effects on non target insects from pollen uptake. I don't believe everything I read but this is some info you might find...

    Double trouble

Not at all. When I said you really have to drench them in my last post I meant really saturating them in oil. It does not matter around here if your trees are healthily or if your neighborhood has Adelgid or not. Odds are if it's a hemlock sooner or later you will see Adelgid if you within the...

    Double trouble

Oil works great on both. Spray the rhody now and spray the hemlock and the rhody again in the fall. You really have to drench both insects for control.

    Is this fertilizer burn?

Again if someone used a liquid fertilizer and screwed up the mixing yes it's possible. Maybe just maybe something else was going on.

    Is this fertilizer burn?

Unless the concentrate was liquid based and thay really messed up on the mixing instructions it would be very difficult to "burn a tree". If all the trees died than yes but only one died and the other are fine I would look for other answers as to the trees demise.

    hemlock issue

The best prevention is making sure the plant has enough water especially in the fall. It appearers that the Hemlock is no larger than 6' so protecting it in a burlap screen is an option. Winter sun and wind are the main causes of burn and it happens in or area usually in the tail end of winter...

    hemlock issue

Evan it looks more like winter burn than mite issue-hard to tell in the pic. I wouldn't worry to much over the fert aspect- new growth looks great. I would wait a couple of years to see what new leader looks best before pruning.

    Planting trees with 8foot rootballs...help!

Their used to be a Co. out of Mashpee called Allenbey that specialized in large tree planting/transplanting give em a call and ask a few questions. We use large excavators to dig and lift off the flatbeds but sometimes a crane is the only option. Be sure to inspect trunks carefully for injury...

Looking for help on this one

Just a shot in the dark but it looks like old injury from when the lot was cleared or that shed put in. If the trunk got smashed with a piece of equipment years ago and the tree has internal decay the two will end up looking similar to what is going on. I'm sure someone else will be able to...
