    piston scoring advice

I pulled the cylinder off and the exhaust port did have some grooves. Doesn't seem too deep so I'm going to get some muriatic acid and fine sandpaper to hone them out. Any advice for this process? (I've never had to do a top end repair)

I redid the compression test and got 150psi. Here's some pics of the cylinder and piston:

Wouldn't a warm engine allow the piston and rings to expand which would increase compression?

    piston scoring advice

The previous owner had been using it for milling so I'm guessing that at some point he overheated it and that's what started the scoring. I'll check for air leaks, but I'm pretty sure that the milling did it in. I should have pictures tonight. Also recheck the compression since the previous...

    piston scoring advice

I just purchased a used Husqvarna385xp and pulled off the muffler to discover some mild scoring on the piston. The rings look slightly marked but compression is still around 140 so I'm not greatly concerned. The cylinder looks spotless though. What I'm curious is if there is an easy treatment...

Most common method for purchasing items on tradin' post?

I was curious as to the safest way to go about purchasing an item found on tradin' post. I know that some people simply post items to scam you, so what have you seen to be the best way to avoid this issue?

    Problems receiving payment.

In that case then, I would just do a single payment right after the job. If they don't pay then, just set up a tent and camp out :P

    Problems receiving payment.

I would get at least something in advance just to secure some sort of way to cover expenses. I usually ask for 1/3 of the estimate before working and depending on the amount, 2/3 just after completion for smaller projects or 1/3 just after and 1/3 a month later for larger projects. I've seen...

24 vs 16 vs 12 Strand Climbing line

I'm looking to get a new climbing line and I'm curious as to how each the 24, 16 and 12 strand ropes feel and handle. I currently use hi-vee 16 strand and it's been really good to me, just wondering how the other braiding compares. Please include what friction knot you use since it makes a huge...

    Lowest stretch climb line

I use Hi-Vee all the time and it's been doing great. I does have some bounce, but it's really not that much when you're considering how long the rope is. Plus it grips really well with a blake's hitch and natural-crotching barely wears on the fibers. The problem with getting a rope with...

    Receding maple trees

I don't have any specific pics since I've been seeing them as I'm driving to work and a couple past customers had some mild receding so it's been teasing me for a while as to what the cause could be. Most of the maples that I notice are sugar maples and only the top branches are dying off. All...

    Receding maple trees

I am encountering a bunch of maple trees that have the tops receding back and the remaining branches bushing up with a lot of leaves. One tree I thought it might be an insect infestation since I was in the process of cleaning out the dead stuff and ants were climbing all through the wood (this...

    large Jonsered Chainsaw

I'm looking to purchase a relatively large Jonsered chainsaw for felling larger trees. I'm looking to maybe put a 28" bar on it or something near that length. I was checking out the 2152, but has anyone has success with the Jonsered line in general?

    Rigging blocks concern

That's what I thought, but I wanted to make sure before putting up the money and getting an unpleasant surprise. Which brand of block have you had the most success with?
