    Stove installation questions...

Having looked at your photos and reading your posts there are a couple things I would suggest. Wood stove chimneys must be a minimum 36” high from the highest point where they exit the roof surface. And a minimum of 24” higher than any structure or roof within a 10’ radius. Exterior mounted...

    Axe restoration thread

That is I believe what is referred to as a track chisel. When I worked for Canadian Pacific Rail 40 years ago we used them to knock the nuts off a "rattler". A ratler was a stripped bolt holding the rails together. One guy, usually me on our crew would hold the handle and place the sharp end on...

    Milling saw no mods

Hey BobL, Can you elaborate on that comment you made about the muffler mod and a replacement jet. I have a 3120XP with a muffler mod. I keep a pretty close eye on the condition of the spark plug and haven't seen anything that would indicate I need to re-jet. As a side note, I run a 50/1 mix...

    Quartersawing with an Alaskan ?

Here is a method for 1/4 sawing on an M8. With a little fiddling you could make it work.

My biggest tree to tackle yet - monster white oak

The local Windsor plywood dealer who sells a lot of hardwood here would probably have a sticker on it in the 1800-2400 range. Keeping in mind we're a long way from any oak trees.

    Logosol M8

The only thing I bought was the upgraded log dogs. The ones that came with the package don't work very well. I've never had a log or a piece of wood move on me while milling. I'm not sure you need the stop.

No I drilled some new holes.

    Logosol M8

Here is a pic of my 3120 with the muffler mod and all the handles removed. Thought about taking the break off to, but it's not in the way and it's good for man handling it on and off the mill.

What are you building with your milled wood? merged

No finish, it will be allowed to age gracefully.

What are you building with your milled wood? merged

Built this bench from plan I got from Fine Woodworking. I didn't mill up the cedar. A buddy of mine had it milled from a bunch of downed trees on some property he owns on Vancouver Island. He dropped off a bunch of rough cut lumber and asked if I would build him a memorial bench for a member of...

    Logosol M8

Im not at all familiar with your planned backups. I also had to mod my 3120 muffler and drill the mounting plate to move the saw back 3/8".

    Not much response

This is what I had to say in another thread similar to this one. "The M8 is not that portable, despite the video of what appears to be a rather large Nordic man easily moving the mill from car top to his milling location. I have had my M8 for a few years and use it frequently. It is semi...

Thanks for the lead. He was able to tell me they had no baffle.

    Blaze King PTJ 203

I'm in the process of rehabbing a Blaze King PTJ 302. I have the original owners manual that shows the brick layout but nothing else of the interior. What I'm trying to determine is whether it came equipped with a smoke shelf or baffle. There is no evidence from what I can see that it did. So...

Logosol m8/big mill vs trad. ASM

The M8 is not that portable, despite the video of what appears to be a rather large Nordic man easily moving the mill from car top to his milling location. I have had my M8 for a few years and use it frequently. It is semi permantly mounted to a 6'x18' deck. The mill costs about $1800 new. The...

I really like that table. I hope it gets put some where it won't get walked into during a power failure.
