    So I gotta ask....

Sounds like wading through the regulations is enough to drive you to drinking. We got 18" at the end of Sept. We had to bust drifts with the CAT to get over the top and down lower to keep working. Everything turned to mud. Melting now, but we got another 4" last night. I have a feeling it...

    So I gotta ask....

I thought the BC Faller training videos I watched a long time ago told people not to fall uphill more than 15 degrees as a rule. I fall uphill if I need to but I do believe the people who are training people frown on it.

    So I gotta ask....

So I cut flush for smaller wood so I don't have to flush the butt I cut a little above on the bigger stuff to avoid fiber pull, but I have to flush the butt. Still saves time overall. On pistol butt trees I do whatever or just fart around cuz I have to buck it anyways

You might be a logger if... ... you hate curled chokers ... you hate frayed chokers ... you cut broken strands out of chokers to make them last a little longer ... you hate longer chokers ... you hate short chokers ... you hate new chokers um, you hate chokers, but are stuck with them. You...

Back cut below face cut is more prone to chair the tree.

You might be a logger if...

We ran over a week with only 3 brakes one time. We tore a rear line when our chains came off in a snow drift. plugged it with a screw and hose clamp.

You might be a logger if...

I'm working a conference instead of the woods yesterday and today, and someone said "oh your not chopping trees today" :omg:

You might be a logger if...

You might be a Logger ...If you give the paper towel dispenser in the public restroom a couple extra pulls while looking at the air hand driers next to it to support the timber industry. ...If, when you come home and your kids have learned to ask "can I hug you Dad or are you too gross and...

You might be a logger if...

You might be a logger if everyone asks you if you've seen any elk 4 weeks before hunting season like clockwork. You might be a logger if you tell them, "haven't seen any in a while" then shoot yours opening week on a lunch break, drag it to the delimber with the skidder and load it into the back...

    Falling pics 11/25/09

That's what I was thinking originally but There might be some confusion as to the pics. I do know that those guys on the coast run towers on some really steep stuff, steeper than we have here. There's not too many guys who run them over here.

    Falling pics 11/25/09

Guess I'm confused, Skeans, were you talking about PNWfaller509's Pic or InfiniteJest's? I was referring to InfiniteJests pic in MT earlier.

Serial numbers to watch out for

I wouldn't waste my time with a 362 if you are logging. Time is money, you'll get in shape for a bigger one. You want a git-r-done saw. If you are a stihl guy, Get a 461, same size and weight as the 441 but more oomph, no m-tronic, and pretty bomb proof. My favorite saw for landing work is a...

Hows your engine temp when that happens? As Northman said converter could be slipping or (not familiar with JD) but clutches if they have them. Or again, pump. Does it have an external pump? Can you touch it with your hand? Got a way to test pressure? You don't have a brake dragging, or...

What makes someone a logger ?

I'll bite. I understand what you are saying... in theory. In actuality, words have meaning. And while I can understand some words are just more crass terms of some general things that don't really hurt anything, other words imply very different things, and kids know that words have meaning...

What makes someone a logger ?

Makes sense that its a locational thing. Out here in the Gallatin Valley, everyone loves the forests, thats why they move here. We are a recreation mecca. It all about living in the Last Best Place. So that definition here, includes about anyone. Including those who want nothing more than...
