    Sugihara bars

Cutting slubbons off Bob, just finished the cut when i noticed bar was looking a bit odd then just fell apart. No levering or pushing, spend a fair bit of time on a saw so like to have the thing cutting pretty good. Should say the first time this happened was about 3 yrs ago. Was a bugger me not...

    Sugihara bars

I thought it could be me leaning on it or something but id expect some funky cuts . I put it in the vise to sharpen? surely it aint that. Its not a falling saw only gets used on the deck. Its spring here dont reckon its the cold its warm as. Think if it was operator error i would be breaking or...

Suggestions for cooling big powerheads while cs milling

I thrash the pants off my 090 in hot weather, full bar slabbing mainly macrocarpa. Never had heat issues, dont let it idle after ending the cut just switch it off always starts easy. Been using castrol garden2T my whole milling life no issues but i dump a litre of oil in a 20 litre container...

I Paid for the Full Chain

Cut a few bullets, wire, a cows skull jammed in a crutch was the most surprising. The worst thing i ever hit was a glass bottle, toasts a chain real fast.

    New saw time

I ran the stihl for a month using the 28" stihl bar and the 32" sugihara bar thats on the old 572. Single skip chisel chain. For me it was hard on my hands. Fun to run but only for short bursts, longer than a couple of tanks and the vibes were starting to get to me. I didnt think i would ever be...

    New saw time

Got the 500i before xmas. Cool saw but not very comfortable to run for long periods, much better on the mill. First 572 I bought in Feb 2019. It's worn the 32" the whole time, hasn't given me any problems at all. Didn't Really need another 572 but the finance minister (wife) approved it, now...

    Clogger Chainsaw Chaps Evaluation

I like the defender pro trousers. Trousers usually last a year with nearly everyday use. Hard wearing and feel lighter to wear compared to the defender, zip pockets, elastic waist but no buttons for suspenders. Zenitec are hopeless when it comes to communication, tried email/online msg, phone...

    Stihl ms 500i

I did wonder if backorder was code for recall. Maybe hotness issues?, got mine to smoke from in the guts somewhere noticed it rising outta pullstart side when refuelling. Did mention it to the dealer, he didnt offer up much other than maybe it was sawdust crud cooking.

    Stihl ms 500i

Power head only? Crazy power out of such a light feeling saw. Where i shop 500i is 100 bucks more than a 461. Couple guys i spoke to want one but they are on backorder at more than one dealer.

    Making beams

Was a good morning, got it done in about 3hrs before it was too hot. Wood is macrocarpa, not often i see them pruned. Usually they are big and ugly looking. Yep big one is one of my 090's. Chain, im at 10° and keep wiping at rakers untill it self feeds. The 500 went good, crazy light like the...

It is December, the ms500i watch game

Had my 500i for about 3 weeks. Pretty impressive little saw, light for the power it makes. Ive noticed that after a tank of chasing dots on the deck theres a fair bit of smoke escaping up through pullstart when you refuel. Maybe its crud cooking? nothing feels overly hot from outside. I'll keep...
