I'm having the same issue on an 088, holds vac and pressure all day, good compression, clean P and C, recond carb, fuel line holds vac and pressure, runs high idle then dies lower RPMS. I have a coil on order.

Set screws are fine. Too worried? drill a shallow hole in the shaft.

What's it smell like?

Lots and lots of dust? I've only been milling a very short time, I kind of gauge the sharpness of the chain by the amount of dust coming out. There is certain size "cone" of dust I see coming out of the saw when the chain is good, and what the pile looks like. Small small chips, more dust like...

My 066 with a 29" wide cut in sugar maple would take 15-20 minutes (hand winch pulling the mill, with the same chain you have) depending on grain. Is your saw spitting out lots of dust?

I put amsteel on my winch. When it pulls the back up I can redirect the winch line around the handle.
