    Climbing a 270' tree

Thanks, I have a couple of comments and I hope you don't take it wrong. Park rangers watching a bunch of YouTube videos looking for possible illegal activity when there are guys out there cutting burls and such and who knows what else. What we need is more respectful, tree loving climbers...

    SAKA

Well, I mostly avoid "work", but I do hang it on the side of my belt and forget about it. Hanging it with the ascender side up, and leaving the foot loop on your foot, does not leave much hanging actually and it is pretty light weight. The whole thing weighs 10oz with the foot loop, if you...

    SAKA

I prefer to avoid the word "superior" as it is really a personal and subjective judgement, if I say it is lighter, the bungee is stronger and can easily be replaced etc. that works.

270 foot doug fir climb Oregon

Thanks jomoco, I'm still working on my last west coast climb video. Not that much sit time really, with a rope walker SRT ascent, then once you get past the first branch it is pretty much stand and get your line to the next limb. I run with a 600' rope and can get to the ground pretty quick if...

270 foot doug fir climb Oregon

Just had another great west coast trip, starting in Portland and finished in SFO, some great trees, DF and RW's in the 270' range. Not the highest you can climb but amazing in structure.

Friction hitches. Which one to use for different situations

Got ya, I don't see much difference and at times I vary the braids depending on the wear and memory of the cord.

Throw Rope - VERY basic questions

This is another way to do it. I can easily vary the number of wraps depending on how much security I want.

Re-thinking the need for a pulley saver or friction-less tie in point.

As climbing styles changed, specifically moving from pure DdRT to SRT and a mixture of both, it made me re-think the use of a pulley saver or minimized friction at the primary support point. This may especially come into play if a climber is setting a pulley saver just to block down a spar or...
