Do I Need a Smaller Saw than 026 in the 3 Saw Plan?

It was just a MS362R- my sharpening is a tic on the aggressive side but not that bad. What do you cut primarily? I got the one I had with the intent of using it after things got to big for my 261/20” .325” while in the tree. I traded it & just use a 461R with the 28” instead.

It seems to have enough engine at the time but I suppose it could have been both. Certainly not enough clutch.

Does the MS400 run the same clutch as the MS362? I ask because I had a 362 & it did not have enough clutch for the 24/25” 84dl in Oak. I tried.

    MS261CM- 20” .325” MS461R - I’ve 2, 1 with a 28” & 1 with a 32”. MS660R/MS661R- 36/41” I wouldn’t send the 076 packing though: there’s one here with a 60” it. I’m 5’ 11” & 170lbs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

If you can, take someone with you to watch the top & be your 2nd set of eyes: it’s easy to get all into getting it on the ground & forget to keep looking up as you are cutting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Good Idea for you: I’ll be completely honest, I have no intent to bring chainsaw to gunfight. Your ancestor blokes took being told what to do a little better by a foreign throne than our ancestors did: it was known as exceptionalism in a previous generation. It’s not an obsession if it’s...

I’m well aware of the OSHA & ANSI relationship: ANSI sets the standards & OSHA enforces them. I’ve been responsible for people on Jobs that both OSHA & the MOL have shut down due to another contractor’s activities & also for former disgruntled employee anonymous complaints. Depending on what...

Big limbs aren’t predictable on live trees: add in this one being dead & the ladder thing just gets worse. Please don’t cut off a ladder @FR3. If those large limbs are going to cause trouble if they are attached during this tree’s fall, the smart thing would be to have a good climber come by...

Saws have a chain brake for starting aloft. In the States OSHA is based on ANSI standards which have a track record of being written in blood. Top handles are the most dangerous type saws because people try to 1 hand them: there’s a reason everyone with sound judgement discourages 1 handing...

Getting my 25 acre wood lot timbered this winter

Put a 28” on the 7310 & go to work. 620 is nice but if you need more grunt a 70cc saw is hardly ever the wrong choice. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Your opinion on the optimal gauge/pitch for 14"/20"/25" bars

3/8” x 0.063” if it’s available for anything 60cc & more. 0.325” x 0.063” for the 50cc. 3/8”p x 0.050” for Top handles & pole saws. More Oil is never a bad thing unless you are trying to stop leaks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

A few stats for new Stihl saws (400, 500i, 881)

That’s what I’ve noticed also. If only there was a way to determine if the Oiler puts out less oil than the 880. If only there was a way someone could measure the output of the oilers, or better yet, there was a published spec on the outputs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
