Sold Log Grapple for Mini Excavator

Basically this is a branch manager bmg setup for a kubota mini ex with quick attach. Fits 2-4ton machines. Easy to adapt to other makes of excavators with new bucket ears. Hoses are pretty long and have male 1/2" npt fittings. I used flat faced quick couples for mine but you will need to figure...

Zigzag or Rope Runner pro spar work

Of your two I'd pick the Runner. Actually any SRT device will let you get a closer cinch than DRT with a friction saver. Akimbo is great for it's compact size, but I wouldn't worry too much about sideloading the runner on a spar. They see much worse in the canopy.

    Switching gaffs

That loctite will soften up with a heat gun. I've got buckinghams with their "hybrid" gaff. Best of both worlds, but I'd rather tree gaffs over pole in most species.

    GRCS off of X rings?

Big lifts might be one thing but just pretensioning a branch I don't see how it's going to be an issue. Try it and let us know...

    SRS rope recovery options

That's it, 8mil is plenty strong, I've just always used a 10 and the size seems to work really well. Definitely need to "lace up" the throwline with either to help it pass thru. Ive seen guys cut down a box wrench and leave it in the quick link but I have never had one loosen up whatsoever just...

    SRS rope recovery options

https://www.riggingwarehouse.com/302-qld375mr-maillon-rapide-quick-link-delta-3-8.html This would work better for getting the end of the rope thru with throwline. 10mm vs 8 and that plastic bar looks like it would be a hinderance

    SRS rope recovery options

Alot of folks use the quicky. I prefer a delta link as it can be loaded on any axis and they leave a little more room for the end of the rope to pass thru when setting ( over a normal screwlink). The 3/8 or 10mm is a good size and they're maybe $10 for a good one. Look for a name brand like...

    SRS rope recovery options

If setting remotely, when you pull the line down to the ground and then thru a butterfly, then yes you will need 3x the rope than the distance to TIP. If in the tree then just need enough tail to reach the ground. You can also tie the butterfly right after your rope goes over the TIP and...

Withdrawn WTB Husqvarna 394 395 Crank Case FOUND

Looking for a crank case for a 394 or 395 xp. Broke off the rear AV mount on mine. Only the clutch side is damaged so if someone has just that side, or both I'm interested. -Nick

    Bandit 200xp Chipper Questions

I've got a similar vintage 200+. Keep good knives and anvil in it and grease it regularly and it will last forever. They're like the ak47 of chippers. No idea how many hours on mine but I wouldn't be surprised if it was over 4k. Mines got the ford diesel so can't help you much there. Napa...

    Portawrap w/ bent bollard

I've got one of the stein bollards. We don't use it very often but pulled it out of the truck and it looked like yours. Asked the guys, of course no one knows what happened. Had to have been slammed with a big chunk of wood. We've been using ours with no issues. Nothing was cracked, just bent.

Best deal on snatch block at Harbor Freight

For redirecting a pull line, sure. Don't confuse these with a real rigging block. Also says 3/8 capacity, which is probably steel so 1/2 rope may fit ok but need to be careful not to cut the jacket on any sharp edges.

1st Rigging Rope, Which To Buy

9/16 is a good do it all size but we use 1/2 " more than anything else. I prefer 16 strand for most of my rigging. Durable, inexpensive, and has alot of stretch to it. 9/16 is enough for some negative rigging without being to bulky. I have 5/8 and even 3/4 polydyne for the heavy work but...

    Climbing spurs

Out of the three you listed I'd choose the bucks and caddy pads. Geckos are light but that's really all they have going for them to me. Climb right are pretty good but I don't like the ultralight pad on them. I would also recommend the Buckingham alloys or bashlin's. An offset stirrup is a...

Are there limitations to chipper mounted winchs?

Use mine all the time. Mostly for brush as it's only a 12" chipper. It'll put a log on the infeed no problem, unless you're on a steep downhill and the log picks up some momentum. My bandit is an older model without a fold down feed table so it works best to hook it about a foot from the end, as...
