ds machine kozy king 400 what do think?

I have one. Very well built, excellent service from Lancaster. I am still understanding this furnace. I called them last week--the guy spoke with me for a good 20 minutes and answered all of my questions. They are pricey--much more than my US Stoves Clayton--but it will pay for itself in the...

    add on furnace vs owb

Here are my thoughts. I'm pretty new to this and just starting to understand my furnace. I can't speak of an out door burner. I have a wood furnace in my basement. It was COLD this morning-- -16 below. My propane OR woodburner cannot keep up with that cold. When it reaches about 15 or so...

    Wood insert versus wood furnace

OK, so I have been burning for almost 2 months now--I am still only getting 5 or so hours out of the DS furnace. Either I have the wood furnace working or the propane--I have to choose with my existing ductwork--the wood setup is ok on the weekends but NOT when I go to work--the house simply is...

How much wood do you load in a wood furnace?

I've got some larger ash on the pile. Dead tree fall from November--of course I thought I was smart and split this by hand. My back knows better! And I have a splitter in the garage--stupid me.

How much wood do you load in a wood furnace?

Field Report 1. Burning 80% ash and 20% hard maple--NO oak Went to sleep and got about 6 1/2 hours no problem--house was 66 degrees at night and 64 in the morning. Got the thing going again and left for work--set it at 66 degrees. Got home 9 hours later--house was at 63/64 degrees--fire...

How much wood do you load in a wood furnace?

Been tinkering with my DS Stoves 400-09. The firebox measures 16"x29". The maximum log length is 26 inches. I'm burning 14"-18" splits now--mostly ash with some hard maple and red oak. We put in usually 5 splits max to 'fill'. I'm lucky to get 6 hours burn--we wake up and the house is...

    Lit my new furnace

Good morning all, Have not posted in a while--my new furnace was installed last April. I bought a DR Stoves 400--biggest one I could find--200K+ BTU--advertised at 86% efficient. Amish built in PA--800 pounds. Had it professionally installed rather than me 'rigging' it like my last one...

    New Mahindra 5035 with grapple

My Bobcat is actually a Daedong--Bobcat stopped importing them a few years back--they too seem a bit heavier duty than the JDs or Kubota.

    firewood tractors

Don't log without one--love my Bob Cat front loader--worth every dime--pays for itself. The bigger the better--the small 'compact' tractors made by Kubota and John Deere might have the HP but are just too light and flimsy. Glad I bought a bigger one--wish I had a backhoe!

Felled, bucked, split and stacked a cord today!

I have ALOT of help--a 30 HP FWD front loader works wonders --although I just drug the tree about 40 or so feet. My MS290 with a new chain is also a plus. A splitter too helps. I still have the horsepower in me also. All those years powerlifting has its benefits--I'm ready for that maple...

Felled, bucked, split and stacked a cord today!

Working on the camera--I still have about 20 ash that need to go--gonna pace myself for a few years at least

Felled, bucked, split and stacked a cord today!

:clap:Felled a dying ash tree--real nice 14 inch diameter straight as an arrow tree. The top cracked off upon impact, so there was no clean up of that. Pulled the tree with my front loader to my splitting area, bucked and split it about 30 minutes ago. Makes me wonder--I did all in about 2...

    Dilema.

I was in the same boat--I bought a MS290 with 20 inch bar for the big stuff and used either a Husky 435 (16") or Poulan Wal Mart special. The Poulan and the Husky are just about done--seems they start fine but lose power after about 15 minutes. Replaced the 435 with a MS211--maybe should have...

Which Husqvarna/Stihl is made in the USA?

NOTHING is 'American' made. Never was, never will be. From day one there has been a global economy.

    splitting big rounds

This looks like a job for......(wait)...... ME! Nice looking pile and workout--give a splitter or give me death.

    Help with chainsaw choice!!!

Stihl MS211 fits the bill. Only saw you will ever need--I love mine.

i wont look at these little poulans the same anymore

Love mine! Best saw I have--5 years, how many tanks, chains, etc. Heck, chains are $7 each--get 3 tanks of gas out of them cutting in the dirt and put a new one on--no fuss.
