So you're saying that at under $3 a bdft I should be buying all that I can get my hands on?

    dirt bike hotsaw

There's no need for a low end. It's not like you have a 200 pound rider on a 250 pound bike here. Youve got a 2 foot bar that spins 3 pounds of chain. So we have about 400 pounds of crap less to move with the engine. Who needs low end when you aint moving any major weight!!! WOT and hold it...

    Selling Black Walnut

I don't recall anyone saying it isn't worth anything. All wood is worth something to someone. He had a lot of walnut and that is the key. No logging company is going to come in and take 3 walnut trees off your property and nothing else and pay top dollar for it. That is what this entire post...

extra cellular moisture.....Any time you kiln dry wood and remove it from the kiln it will start gaining moisture immediately. If the moisture level outside was the same as it is in the kiln then there would be no need to kiln dry anything except to speed the sale of said lumber.

using a dremel to sharpen chain?

I'll use it when out in the field and using my chainsaw mill. I only have the one chain because I just made it. It'll clean it up enough to get through the tree I am cutting. When I get home I sharpen with a file and guide system for the next run.

    Husky 61

pardue, I saw them for $90 on fleebay. I looked in the baileys catalog but didn't see them. Maybe they have them on line though. Check there first. I'm thinking of giving it a go round. I don't have the coin for a big saw, so I'll replace the piston/cylinder and put this on my chainsaw...

    Husky 61

new for new you'd go from 4.1 to 4.7 horse power. In all reality, you'll probably see an even bigger jump as your existing 61 is probably not putting out the stock horse power number. Include a quick muffler mod and i'll bet you hit 5 horse power easily!! So, if your current 61 is a tad low...

    Husky 61

Romeo, I love you!!! Thanks for the info, now when it's time to rebuild then I'll put a bigger piston and cylinder into it and have a bigger saw. That is great news. The saw is a bit heavy for it's power output, but If I can make it a bigger saw without any weight gain then I'll have a...

    Husky 61

I paid $100 for my 61 a couple months ago. Spent about 2 hours cleaning/tuning and doing general maintenance and she runs great. If I could get $325 for it I'd sell it in a heart beat. Anyone looking for a 61?????

"current retail value" at Menards, not your local lumber yard. THeir prices will be considerable less. That fact remains that people will go to menards and buy it though....... at any price.

    Selling Black Walnut

Woody, fortunately for the seller and unfortunately for the buyer I do know what select and better is for walnut. It aint much either. The rules for cherry are even worse. I'll double check my grading book tomorrow though, but if I'm not mistaken the wood doesn't have to be great to make...

Looking for a good used 18" or 20" bar for Husky 61

Mine is 3/8 pitch .050 gauge. That's what husky spec is on the acres site as well. There was a guy a page or so ago selling new ones on here.

Looking for a good used 18" or 20" bar for Husky 61

Unless you need it longer, go with the 18 incher. The 20 is just a hair too big for the saw

and you're in oregon. Isn't there a lot of walnut trees in oregon? Thus driving the value down even further. Dollar for dollar it probably can't be beat as far as asthetics and shade go for your house. It's best to leave it there.

    Selling Black Walnut

Woody, everyone knows what they are getting. he is a very honest and upfront guy about what eh is selling. Thre are woodowrkers around ehre (like myself) that prefer air dried lumber. Everyone knows that they need to do a bit more drying when they get it home.

    Selling Black Walnut

Woody, It's not that kind of place. He's a local sawyer running a timber harvester mill. His lumber is all sitting outside under tarps (sometimes). It's all sitting in an open area. He's a one price fits all (one price for each different species) place. All the walnut is $3 a bdft. The red...

    Selling Black Walnut

Woody, for that money I get green any thickness any width (that the logs will bear) ungraded lumber. If it won't pull a #1 common then it don't get bought. For the most part the sawyer that I deal with is very understanding and realizes that we as local woodworkers aren't going to pay for wood...
