    Trouble with new stove

Also is the area behind the insert insulated? I put Rookwool behind of mine and all around the top to plug the chimney and smoke shelf closed. This helped a lot on mine as I have an exterior brick chimney with a 6” insulated SS liner. You said your flue pipe is 8”? That seems big on an insert...

    Trouble with new stove

I was looking at your pics again and your insert is a lot like mine. I have a bigger firebox so it sticks out further though. Are you running the fan on it? If so that’s always been mines issue if I can’t keep a good hot fire going. The fresh air intake is right between the two blower fans. The...

    Should I install a damper?

The FIL has one on his EPA woodstove in the pole barn. He leaves for the winters now so I get to use the extra space to work on my larger projects. Every time I turn it to partially close off the pipe (about a 1/4 turn), it will stop the secondary burn tubes from igniting and if they are already...

    Trouble with new stove

As far as running your stove, here is how I run my insert that has secondaries is as follows. 1st get the fire going good with help from the door. Intake full open as well. 2nd once the fire is going (about 20min) I close the intake down to 50%. Then sit back for a bit and let it burn some...

    Trouble with new stove

You don’t really need to buy a meter. Simple way to tell of wood is dry, is to split the wood. Then grab the split and place the fresh cut side to your cheek. If it feels wet, it’s probably wet.

    unloading firewood blocks

Could you put a load handler in the bed and then just crank them forward? A couple may roll off, but if stacked and maybe a 4x4 board screwed at the front to keep it from pulling out under the wood. Just a thought as they are pretty cheap now...

    Dolmar 5100s rebuild

The hone sounds like the way to go. I will grab a new piston and ring as well. I actually just bagged all the parts up and placed it on the shelf again as the boat transom needs replacing and I have a few saws, but only one boat. Hone is ordered though!!

    Dolmar 5100s rebuild

I don’t mind buying here and there where money allows, to keep it close to stock. Not really interested in going too much beyond stock with it. It was a great saw before I pissed with it. No I just have to pay

    Dolmar 5100s rebuild

I have attached some images of my 5100s cylinder and I am wondering if you guys think it’s salvageable? Back story, tuning on the saw was a little lean and saw needed a new piston and ring. I put a Redbarn piston and ring in it as that’s all I could find available. Took the saw to the woodyard...

6 Bush Cord Deliveries - This is how I roll...

That works great for delivering! No way I can get my 2 cord dump trailer to put it in such a short row. I always use to tell my constumers to plan on the pile being 14-18' long.

    2018/2019 firewood prices

Just before Christmas I picked up a 2 cord load for $250. Guy splits it off his processor right into my dump trailer. All hard wood and 90% oak. He did raise his price $25 a cord. Still pretty damn cheap for not having to do any of the work but unloading and stacking.

    How many SuperSplit owners?

SS owner here with a Subaru Robin EX17 engine. I have owned it for 5yrs and bought it used when it was about 5yrs old. Still have an old hydraulic with a 6.5hp HF motor. It does not get much use anymore except for nasty pieces.

What does a chip guard do?

I’m with SB47 as on both my Dolmars that was the first thing I removed. Noddles clear a lot fast without it in there.

Why Do You Use A Conveyor?

We would pile the wood off the Processor with a conveyor to be stacked at a later time ( high school helpers on the weekends). One fall we never got a couple 25' piles stacked. It was May when we finally got to the center of them and there was still ice in the center at the bottom. These piles...

Is a $10k splitter worth it?

Agree, with the above. You could save a ton of cash and make more spits per hour with a supersplit. That’s if the wood is good size up to 30” around. Anything bigger a log lift would be nice and an 6-8way wedge are nice too!

BEST 60cc saw ever built !!!!

what is wrong with your Dolmar 6100? Mine is better than my buddies 590 Timberwolf in bucking and noodling and 100x’s better in filtration.

need an aftermarket oil filter # for my ditch witch sk800

Try searching for this Luber Finer filter with a cross reference. I have found in the past that once I can find a more popular filter, the rest will pop up. (https://www.oilfilter-crossreference.com/convert/LUBERFINER/PH2904).

    Makita/Dolmar sticker

Awesome info, thanks. I was running 40:1 Stihl Ultra in the 5100, and have ran 3 tanks through the new to me 6100. I will look into that Maxima oil as I use to run Maxima in my snowmobiles with lots of mods and nver had an oil related failure. The fuel I can get around here thats E free is 89...

    Makita/Dolmar sticker

You now got me thinking. You know off the top of your head if the 5100 coil would fit the 6100? An unlimited coil or at least more rpm would be nice. I know the clutch does as I robbed that yesterday as the springs in the 6100 were beyond weak and I needed to get some more wood bucked up. It...
