    Didier splitters

Didier splitters did not come with a filter. If there is a filter it could be only a guess as to what would fit.

    Log splitter engine size ?

Beware of pressure washer engines because they often have tapered shafts which makes it difficult to attach a hydraulic pump.

    Wood Splitter Help

The cap for the detent on the Energy valve has a small shallow groove cast in the cover. It is not intended to be watertight. It appears to be a vent. The Prince brand valves recommend not storing their valves with the detent plug facing up on their H/V splitters.

Stewing on speeding up box store splitter

Putting a larger pump and engine will increase speed with no increase of tonnage. As to hydraulic fluid capacity there are similar designed models on the market with 16 GPM pumps and 8 hp engines.

    Splitter issues

Hydraulic pumps on log splitters are industry standard and are interchangeable between all splitter manufacturers.

    Splitter issues

Could be a broken spring in the pressure relief in the control valve.

    Log splitter hydraulic question

Could be a small piece of debris limiting movement of valve. On some valves there is a small threaded adjustment rod that could break or be out of adjustment. With the cylinder there is a nut that holds the piston to the rod, if the nuts comes lose it will cause the cylinder to bypass fluid on...

    Log splitter not building pressure

The pressure readings on the gauge should be the same regardless of direction. It appears that the problem is with the cylinder.

    Log splitter not building pressure

The 160 cc engine is too small for a 16 GPM 2-stage pump

looking for advice on an old home made splitter

Most farm supply stores and some NAPA auto stores have hydraulic hoses. Log splitters use open center control valves so they don't store pressure. The hydraulic reservoir small for commercial use but comparable to many consumer grade splitters.

    Log splitter engine size ?

These dimensions should help with pump GPM.

Where's the leak from? (Hydraulic Pump)

Hydraulic pumps for log splitters have industry standard mounts and can be found for 150.00

    Didier splitters

Air bubbles forming in the hydraulic fluid is caused by low fluid level or a leak in the suction line between the pump and hydraulic tank. An air leak in the suction side of the pump will usually not show visible leakage

Need help fixing 25 ton log splitter

Control valves for splitters can be found for under $100. Energy brand or Energy style log splitter valves can generally be used as a direct replacement for valves mounted to the cylinder using the port closest to the handle for attachment. Prince LS3000 style valves generally work best when...

Need help fixing 25 ton log splitter

Leakage at either end of the control valve is caused by a damaged O-ring. The rear cover does not have a gasket, it is only a dust cover. Some rear covers also have a slight notch in the cover for a vent.

    Welding a log splitter piston

I have shortened three cylinders and welded the rear cap back on. The caps had to be carefully removed to retain the shoulder that inserts into the barrel. Also kept a wet rag on the cylinder to attempt to protect the chromed inside of the cylinder from the welding heat. None have failed.

    Wood splitter dies under load.

Your Vickers pump is not a 2-stage pump. The pressure relief adjustment is under the hex cap next to the valve handle. After the hex cap is removed there will be a adjustment screw that you turn counter clockwise to lower the max pressure. Only make small 1/4 turn adjustments until the engine...
