    new 550xp, question

I have the Model 550 also, and just curious "Why you deleted the primer bulb ?" Also, I think I would put the brass support ring back into the intake boot, Just my opinion. I also suspect that you fixed the leak by just the re-assembly process, and maybe tightening up the bolts a little tighter...

Tried out a new compression tester... issues??

Nice Gauge, Not sure why there are so many different hoses ? Is there a downloadable PDF document ? I would be interrested in more information about the gauge. Anyhow, I don't have an answer to your question, but my Analog gauge does the same thing. On some engines I get 140 - 150 PSIG...

Curious Question about tuning up a chainsaw

RyKR - Yes, I just wanted to explain, so that you understood where I was coming from, and I really keep looking for the problem child ones. Even the ones that I get from the re-cycle center that someone threw away are really not that bad, and can be easily fixed with a carburetor kit, fuel line...

Curious Question about tuning up a chainsaw

OK - Here is an example, I had a Lawn Mower brought to me that the owner kept complaining that it would start on occassion but usually would break the starter cord, and Not start. Too funny. So I looked at it and right away, I knew it was probably the flywheel key had sheared, so the first...

Curious Question about tuning up a chainsaw

Yes, I was thinking the same thing, and have not seen any chainsaws that came from a Dealer or directly from a Manufacturer that had any sawdust or wood chips inside the chainsaw, so I have been wondering about that one too. The chainsaws that I have worked on, and repaired are usually ones that...

Curious Question about tuning up a chainsaw

Thanks for the replys, I thought of a couple of ways to test the engine, such as having some kind of a load cell that would allow you to load up the engine, but don't know of anyway for a Homeowner or Non-commercial individual would be able to afford or justify the cost, unless it was something...

Yup, and Thanks, and I Knew it was Not a priority for the tree service company. However, I do personally know him, and he has a small company but lots of really neat Tree Service equipment ( big double boom bucket truck, Large Diesel wood chopper, a Dump Truck with winch, and maybe a winch on...

Just follow up on a previous post (Falling Tree)

End of the story, The tree service called me back at the end of last week, saying they just got my message, which I left on their Business Phone number, and said they would get to it. Anyhow another week came and went, and No Tree Service, I was getting ready to call again since I was getting a...

Just follow up on a previous post (Falling Tree)

Just fell a big red oak yesterday behind my shop, and it went the wrong way, ugh I did have it planned correctly but only mistake was the tree has been dead for the second year, and was in pretty bad condition about 70 feet tall, I should have taken it down last year. I wanted it to go straight...

    New saw compression

Woody - Thats is what I do also, In the field I keep a few chains with me so, I can keep cutting and swap chains or even chainsaws, or If I stop for lunch in the woods, I always have my files with me, and will dress up the chain a little during a quick lunch break, then back to cutting. I can...

    New saw compression

Woody, Sounds like you did good, compression sounds great. I am in South New Jersey, and have lots of red oak too, I use it in my glacier bay wood stove when it really gets cold, or if the weather man threatens that we have a storm coming, then I get the stove and pile of wood ready. Lol Good...

    New saw compression

Lol - How do you make it get that kind of reading ? I don't think I would want that kind of compression, It would probably run without a spark plug in the engine. too funny

    New saw compression

Woody, Glad to hear you have your saw running. Just a coincidence but I have been having trouble with my gauge, on Husqvarna 545's & 550's only seem to get 110 psig, however the same gauge etc. and on an old stihl but the same size spark plug (10 mm), I get 150 psig with three pulls, and I have...
