    Power rope ascenders

I've had some ideas. And I have seen several on Youtube including a gas powered one from Europe. They look great but they're not available yet in the U.S.

Four hundred and fifty dollars worth please

$100 per hr in the market I'm in is pretty good for a two man climb crew. I try to bid stuff at least $90 per hr. But right now stuff is slow and with unemployment in this area at over 10% money is tight. Even my high end customers are watching every dollar. I think you hit it right. but that's...

Tulip Popular with random yellow leaves?

Anyways a bad storm came through about a week after it was planted, we have 80+ MPH gusts. Which proceeded to rip the entire tree out of the ground, separating the roots from their caged ball and tossing the tree into the street seen in the picture. I had to go out, dig out the metal cage left...

    Tree sabotage

Here's the latest. The owner called me for an estimate to remove the tree. She is going to give this to the police dept for the DA to prosecute this guy. So it looks like they are building a case to take action. I'll post any new developments....

    Tree sabotage

Yeah, it made us mad! We are a start up company and this was one of our first big jobs, so we were extra careful to do nice job. This is a small town and everyone knows us, we were getting a lot of nice comments from all the neighbors about how well they turned out. I spoke with the owner...

    Tree sabotage

That's exactly what I was thinking!!!! http://www.arboristsite.com/images/smilies/hmm3grin2orange.gif :hmm3grin2orange: I'm not sure what the owner is going to do yet. I'm going to call later today and see what she is planning to do. I'll keep you all posted.

    Tree sabotage

And the drama continues... My son went over today and took these pictures and did some digging around. A police report was filed and there was an eye witness he talked, who said they saw the neighbor on the 4th of July night go over with a pick ax and a jug of round up. So they got photo...

    Tree sabotage

Here is a third motive: fear of toppling over and hitting the neighbors house. Also the the point about absence of weeds is a good one. The area around the base of theses trees is weed free. But now that's got me thinking......what about the lawn guy? I'll be taking samples to the U.C...

    Tree sabotage

I spoke with the owner and she said that she didn't have anyone apply anything. She was going to ask the renters if they did anything. If they did they probably won't admit it.

    Tree sabotage

I kind of think it might be the neighbor. He wanted the tree removed because he's afraid if it falls it could hit his house. We don't really have a problem with Oak wilt in this area. Also this is a Valley Oak, Q-lobata. It's biggest pest is people building around it's root zone, drought and...

    Tree sabotage

Any one ever have a tree you just trimmed sabotaged? I trimmed a couple of big oaks in June. Trees looked great. I drove by the trees last week and one of the trees is almost completely dead! I stopped by today and inspected the declining tree and found someone had punched approx 1/8" holes...

Should I worry about this Bur Oak?

The only issue I see is the potential for soil compaction in the root zone. Ants and the other critters are part of the wood decay process, which works just fine in the woods.... Just my 2 cents.

    C.A.R.B. engine registration

Just got a note from the WC ISA. The anti pollution nazi's in California are going to start enforcing the registration regulations for portable diesel engines, (PERP). But no big deal right? The "fee" (tax) is only $270 per engine. Unless of course, you did not know that the dead line is Dec...

    Myroporum trees may be sick

Black crud Don't know if this thread has been replied too. 'Cause I can't see any. Sooty mold, usually caused by insect secretions. Get rid of the insect, get rid of the sooty mold. Is this Myoporum laetum? Look for an insect called a Sharpshooter , Graphocephala atropunctata. These are...

    Estimates

Charge for estimates? Estimates, no. Consultations, YES! Wasting time on bids from people who are'nt going to hire you is unfortunatley part of the game. Maybe, a prescreening for customers that are outside of your normal service area could cut down on some of that. Here's my favorite, a...

How to repair cracked branch .

Limb repair If the limb really needs to be saved Jomoco has some good advice. Print it out and follow it. Since this is an ornamental and not a large tree, danger from limb failure should be minimal. You probably won't be able to draw it all the way back together. You might want to consider...

    Workman's Comp

Workers Comp What about creative wages? I remember hearing about a utility trimming contractor working in CA that paid their employees a lower wage then made up the difference in a "Production Bonus". The WC rate applied to the hourly wage but I think the "Production Bonus" was exempt. As far...
