Post pictures of your woodpile/splitting area

Just about have my splitting area cleaned up for the winter. I'm sure I'll get a new pile going next spring. Each rack is a full cord of wood. Primarily oak, ash and hickory. A bit of other mixed hardwoods here and there.

I got the four way wedge, six way wedge and box wedge. Only have had time to play with one day when not so muddy. Did a face cord of wood in about 15 minutes all by myself. I get a couple guys working with me and sure we can put out wood quicker. Used the box wedge. We will see if I end up...

    Growths on Pignut Hickory

In that case I used Mauget Fungisol injectors. I like the ease of use with Mauget on some things; however it does take longer to administer than my Arborjet. However, it all depends on what I am treating as to what I use.

    Growths on Pignut Hickory

Actually there is a treatment. Injection of fungicide. I have treated a couple hickories over the last two years. The growth of the galls cease and no new galls. Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk

    Stihl Flippy Cap solution

A waste of time and energy for something that really isn't a problem. We are running saws all days. When they run out of gas we fill them. With minimal gas in the tank when it stops running there isn't spray. Especially if you have common sense to open it slowly. That setup would take longer to...

    Help me finish my kit

Ditch the spus until you learn to climb with rope and saddle. Spurs only should be used on removals and they are totally opposite techniques than regular climbing. Go find an experienced climber and learn from them. Master all the rope knots before getting off the ground. When you have done that...

    Tree ID again.

Chestnut Oak Fruit is large, usually over an inch in length. They have a thin, star-shaped cap that encloses the acorn 1/3 of its length. Caps have fused, somewhat warty scales. Chinkapin Oak Chinkapin acorns are the sweetest of our native oaks. They are small, only 1/2 inch long, with a...

    Tree ID again.

Definitive answer can be decided by displaying the Acorn. Acorns are the best and most definite way to determine species of Oak. Chestnut and Chinkapin share some native lands but not lots. Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk

Low compression on my new Stihl MS362

You said the shop "tuned" it and you added other parts? If it was modified out of specs in the beginning then you voided any warranty. Wow. I read all the time how guys want to modify their new saws and then when it fails blame the manufacturer. Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk

My $65000 cigarette lighter (Powerstroke diesel)

Guigi47, I have come to love and respect you for the daily posts you normally make on another thread. But going for a duramax over a Cummins. HA HA. Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk

My $65000 cigarette lighter (Powerstroke diesel)

I'm with everyone else in here. Cummins is the way to go. Been building diesel engines for 100 years as of this year. Started downsizing them for this market back in late 70's. Plus I grew up in Columbus, Indiana and my dad was an engineer on the project. Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk

Lost job looking at arborist work

Stay away from inexperienced and untrained crews. This is far too dangerous of a career for amateurs. I see crews all the time doing unsafe, dangerous stuff. Makes my stomach churn. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk

If you smashed a saw on the job today, then someone wasn't following safety protocols. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk

    Im not a arborist but....

If your climbing trees for a living and climbing live trees to prune them then you should not be wearing spurs. Spurs do tremendous damage to live trees. It's wrong and a disservice. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk

    Rigging kit

Unfortunately you're going to literally burn through your rigging line with all that friction in the block. The steel will hold the heat, you have no bearings or sleeve. If for some ungodly reason the system does fail and something gets damaged or someone hurt, the insurance inspector will...

Lost job looking at arborist work

If he has all that equipment then count on all the money to buy it and maintain it. Too many guys jump into this business with a bucket, chip truck and chipper without having the proper skills and knowledge to take care of trees. Then they undergird every job just to try to make ends meet and...

    Cold bar oil.

Difference being today is the bar oils are generally biologically based as compared to carbon base. Biological oils don't contribute to pollutants in the ground, carbon based do. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
