Want to Sell ALLWOOD OAK SERIES SPLITTER

I have a nice ALLWOOD OAK SERIES 28 TON SPLITTER. Hydraulic Log lift, Hydraulic Adjustable 4 way wedge & 6 way wedge. The 4 way wedge hides when lowered so you can switch between 2 way and 4 way splitting in just a couple seconds. Honda 390 Motor with Electric Start. Tires are in excellent...

Pipe dream or can I make decent money

The pieces on the bottom I just clean them of quick or if they are too bad I use them myself. It beats messing with pallets and if I can save time and effort I do. I work alone so I only have so much time and energy moving 100+ cords a year. This year I think I'll be cutting back a little. As...

Pipe dream or can I make decent money

It costs me about $20 for fuel round trip to go to the city 35 miles away (10 mpg) @ $2.50/gallon. F250 Long bed with 5.4L. I carry 2 cords, many times it's four half cord deliveries. I figure $10 per delivery for fuel to be safe. I don't go out cutting wood, I have a tree dump, time and fuel...

    Uninvited guest

Get a screened cap for your chimney. I kill anything that comes around, snakes, squirrels, coons, bugs.

Pipe dream or can I make decent money

I think you need to carry more firewood. With a good trailer and truck you should be able to carry two full cords. I do it all the time. I prefer to head out for deliveries fully loaded and make multiple stops on one trip. A dump trailer and a skid steer will help quite a bit. If you are a good...

What got you started in heating with wood?

Back in the 70's growing up when the fuel shortage came my Dad and his buddies built indoor add-on wood & coil boilers. I helped cutting wood and hauling wood and splitting wood. When I moved South to NC, had a big house and a corporate job, hated it. Got divorced and bought a doublewide in the...

First Year Heating With Wood Fiasco

I have an older (1986) Suburban Woodchief I bought for $100 off craigslist, you can put 24" + logs in it, stuff it full and it will last for 12+ hours. The ash pan is below in a separate compartment, no burning embers anywhere ever, the firebox is separate. No fire to see but it does the job...

First Year Heating With Wood Fiasco

I would figure out a way to insulate better and make sure what ever stove you get, it has the biggest firebox you can get. Forget about half ton trucks for serious hauling and towing, get a skid steer the fiancé doesn't know the cost of too !!! .. LOL

    Stove choice for small house

I have an old 1986 Suburban Woodcheif cabinet stove with the thermostat on it. I restored it 8 years ago and it gets 10-12 hour burns no problem. I have even had it go 20 hours a couple time when it wasn't so cold out. I just don't see the modern stoves being able to compare to that. Plus it has...

    Eastonmade splitter

I have a commercial splitter, with that said Easton is a great looking machine. A box wedge would be great ion the large rounds I deal with.

    Heating with wood...but

Well it's good to check what voltage your generator puts out. Laptops can handle a very wide range of voltages, they may have had a surge of some kind. I have never had any issues like that and my generator is 25 years old. Never had any problems at my Dad's house either. Seems like a lot of...

    Heating with wood...but

I have a 4000 watt Coleman generator I wire right into the a 30 amp 220 volt breaker on the panel. I turn off the main breaker coming into the house before I do anything so I am isolated from the electric company. With wood heat and a well I can power the rest of the house without a problem but...

Splitting with My Allwood Oak Series Splitter Video

OK thanks guys for the observations and insight. I think I can get a piece of steel welded across the front of the post where the four way slides to minimize the gap and keep it from moving as much. Big rounds are a lot of work to split. I stack in the bucket when the firewood is going into the...

Splitting with My Allwood Oak Series Splitter Video

The tube that the four way rides on is dented a little in the front allowing for the extra play. I bought this unit used so I guess I will have to live with it. The guy that had it before me, must have bent it somehow. If it gets too bad I'll have to cut that rectangular tube off and weld a new...

Splitting with My Allwood Oak Series Splitter Video

Sometimes wood chips build up in the space between the leading wedge and where the 4-way rides up and down and it does that. I checked it and the nut holding the 4-way wedge on the piston is tight.

    Eastonmade Wood Splitter

How many tons is that ram? The thing I like about the box wedge is how it handles large rounds, you just pull the piece back in splitting position.

Splitting with My Allwood Oak Series Splitter Video

I had a chance to make a video of splitting of large white oak and red oak rounds the other day. I have had this splitter for 4 months now and I am still pretty satisfied with it, I'm not nearly as tired after splitting firewood. I split 3 full cords Saturday & Sunday without too much trouble.
