Central PA GTG - Spring 2020

Come to think of it, when I lived in Ohio, the only GTG I made was in Indiana. I met up with @blsnelling and rode with him out to somewhere in Indiana. Was quite a good time.

    "You Suck" Thread 2019--Pics required!

It's been a rough year so far, but I think my luck is starting to change. During the second week of cutting, my trusty Super XL locked up mid-cut. I thought she seized, but when I got home and pulled the muffler, I could see the piston moving. Turns out I broke the connecting rod. Bought a...

Central PA GTG - Spring 2020

There was some talk in the Fall Central PA GTG thread about doing one in the spring. I am willing to host. Our land is in Duncansville, PA; 5 minutes off exit 23 of I-99. 1 hour south of I-80, 10 minutes south of US-22, 30 minutes north from I-70/76. I was thinking early April, but that...

CENTRAL PA GTG. October 26,2019. (nuthin fancy)

My land is in Duncansville, PA, just south of Altoona. It is 5 minutes from I-99. It's about an hour south of I-80 and 20 minutes north of I-76. We could make camping arrangements if anybody is interested in staying over.

I would love to be able to make this, but alas, I have to work. That said, would anybody be interested in a GTG a little further west? Maybe in spring?

    ya ever throw your saw?

It wouldn't have been that many, but there are three cuts up the finger; which each needed stitched together. Luckily, I have good insurance, so it costs me $125, regardless of the amount of stitches.

    ya ever throw your saw?

I threw my Super XL the other day. I was trying to finish up the last few pieces for a load of wood, and got the tip into another log. That thing kicked back on me like I have never seen. It came back so hard it pulled my left hand off the handle, and that's when it bit me. 43 stitches in my...

    Ohio GTG Jan 3rd

You almost have me convinced to head down...it's only a 3 hour drive this time. 2500 miles in the past week makes me want to be nowhere near my car though...if I can convince SWMBO to accompany me, we might make the trek. I will know by Friday.

    Homelite super xl 12

For those types of wood, the longest I run is a 16" bar, full comp. If I was cutting hardwoods that large, I would rather make 2 passes than try to run a bigger bar. Then again, I got spoiled at the Indiana GTG...7900 is my next purchase. Girlfriend even approved it :greenchainsaw:

    Indiana GTG

My mom came to visit today (emergency computer repair) and I showed her the pics. Of course, the first thing she asked me was how much I was spending on a new saw. Maybe she has CAD too?! The second thing she asked is why all the wood we loaded up was split down to kindling. Didn't I tell...

    Indiana GTG

Once I got on 71, I set the cruise at 75. It didn't come off until I hit 76 (164 miles later) except in Columbus when I had to exit three times to stay on the road I was on. Maintaining that speed cut a half hour off my travel time.
