Old thread but just incase anyone is reading that might find this helpful.. I posted on this forum about 3ish years ago (you can search my name and find the thread) asking for advice on starting a tree business, I got the same negative responses; no money, misery, breakdowns, payroll, etc...

How do you guys bid on apartment complex's?

Honestly, Id rather just do residential work. Commercial work, especially apartment complex's are such a hassle! They always get multiple quotes, they always take a bit longer to pay and they are always a pain in the ass! Do any of you intentionally pass up on large jobs like apartment complex's??

How do you guys bid on apartment complex's?

P.S. The $780 will get them a 2 man crew for 6 hours. We have a chipper, but do not have a bucket truck. We climb everything besides some ladder work.

Does this palm tree look safe to climb?

Update: I removed this tree today. Climbed to the top, chucked it down in pieces. Was a little wobbly but held just fine. Only issue I had was the trunk was literally hard as concrete. I could not get my spikes to penetrate it easily. I ended up taking a Milwaukee cordless drill and a 3/8's...

Does this palm tree look safe to climb?

I've got this palm tree scheduled for removal Monday morning. It's in a backyard so it will need to be climbed to the top and taken down in pieces. I've climbed lots of palm trees, but this particular palm gets pretty skinny in the middle. What are the chances of this thing actually snapping...

    What rope/rigging to buy

For someone who is just starting out, I'll always recommend learning the basics first. better way to learn imo.

    What rope/rigging to buy

If you are trimming the trees you should not go up with spikes. You could actually kill it. For blakes hitch, you should just tie it with the tail of the same rope. Always do a stopper knot. Once you learn that you could go on and get a micro pulley with prussic cord. I use the Samson blue...
