    So, what's your day job?

I work in IT for a state agency. I just started cutting wood to feed the smoker I built. So far I've only felled one "tree". In reality it was a 20 foot tall stump.

    What did you learn today?

I learned that splitting 20" rounds by hand is a lot harder than I remember, 25 years ago... I also learned that I need a lot more practice at sharpening a chain. I think I did more harm than good.

    Media Cat Chain Letter

I'd like a copy too. The latest copy that doesn't expire would be nice, but I'll take a roll back version if that's all I can get. Thanks

    MS180C oiler question

I just picked up the oil line and the 2 vents from my Stihl shop. The oiler will have to wait until payday. Any comments on the aftermarket oilers? Are they ok or will I have to replace it again in a couple months?

    MS180C oiler question

Since I have this one out, I'll probably pick up a high flow pump and a new oil line, just to cover the bases. The only other thing I can think of is that maybe the vent isn't working like it should. The vent doesn't look plugged, but the saw is/was so dirty... I may replace both gas and oil...

    MS180C oiler question

I think I understand what you're talking about. The worm gear looks fine. The feed line holds pressure and the oil pick up isn't plugged up. I also made sure that the worm drive was in the notch in the clutch drum. So the only thing left is that the oiler isn't working. Thanks for the help.

    MS180C oiler question

I got the old one out. How far do I insert the new one, since I don't have the installation tool to judge depth? Also, how can I tell if there's a problem with the old one?

    MS180C oiler question

I wanted to make a couple cuts with this little saw this evening. So, I started it up without the bar and it seemed to be oiling fine. I installed the bar and made a couple cuts before it got dark. I maybe ran it for 10 minutes, 10 or so cuts on some aged pecan. Everything seemed fine so I...

    what grinds your gears guys

My buddy drives truck. He had this happen to him once in Cali, where Semi's have to drive in the right lane. Some lady came off the on ramp going slower then he was. She disappeared under his hood while he was standing on the breaks. He comes to a stop, a ways down the road and gets out to...

    what grinds your gears guys

People that turn a wide 2 lane intersection into a 2 lane with a right turn lane. Happens all the time in my little town. Annoys the crap out of me when I'm sitting there with my right turn signal on and they pull up beside me, or cut off a Semi trying to turn right... Maybe I'm turning into...

    MS180c Problem... Fixed Thanks

I started this little saw over my lunch today. A little hard to start at first, had to get the fuel into the new WT215 carb. Holy Crap! Man does this little thing run now...WOW! I have it tuned at 1 1/4 turns low and 1 turn high. I probably need to fine tune it a bit, but this is a good...

    MS180c Problem... Fixed Thanks

Ok, I figured it out. I popped out the plug from the inside. While I was in there I figured out what hole needed the jb weld. I cut the hook on the throttle linkage a little shorter. I bent the linkage tawords the engine slightly to avoid having to add a screw behind it, I have full...

    MS180c Problem... Fixed Thanks

I picked up a wt215. I see the brass plug that needs to be pulled. The top hole is a blind, doesn't go anywhere. There's a different hole off to the side, does that need plugged? What's the easiest way to pull the brass plug? How do i hook up the throttle linkage? It doesn't fit through...

    MS180c Problem... Fixed Thanks

Ok, I need a carb after all. What was the fully adjustable carb that works on this saw?

    MS180c Problem... Fixed Thanks

It runs. I need to "fine tune" the barely adjustable carb, but it runs. Now to figure out what to do about the missing adjuster.

    MS180c Problem... Fixed Thanks

Yep, same boot. I just heated it a little with a heat gun and it straightened itself back up. I use the same process on turkey decoys. They are creased and nasty looking new out of the box, add a little heat and they pop back into their original shape.
