tar stain-see pic's-what to use to remove it?

I don't think you would want to powerwash in nj this time of year anyways. Full strenght spray/soak, go watch a couple of episodes of This Old House and then powerwash on a warm, spring day....

Furnace Shut Down - Spring Cleaning

Wish I could do that this soon, I have at least 2-3 weeks minimum left.....grrrr Sounds like you have the right plan. Scrape and oil the inside, I like to shop vac too, gets all the little corners. Do not forget about a properly measured treatment of the 'purple stuff' aka rust inhibitor...

    Introduction and a couple questions

Welcome Michael. I have a Freedom owf, 2 seasons now, and have nothing but good words for it. I like it because you have the option of burning coal and since we are in the heart of coal country, it is a nice option. Feel free to pm me if you have any specific questions. I do not sell them...

How many Farms on AS? answer the poll.

On aprox. 84 acres. Was a chicken farm up until 1960. Currently use about 6 acres for feed corn for the deer and turkey, keeps the JD and Farmall greased up. About 4 acres of christmas trees, 50% have gotten way too big, probably going to end up firewood in the near future. Now days, just...

Poll: How many people w/OWB's own logsplitters?

If it don't fit through the door then I continue to cut it with the saw. Split wood is for those pretty, polished indoor stoves. Burn the rounds!:chainsaw:

Cook chicken in the wood stove?

I have thought about how to do ribs in my owb. By building a fire with some quality wood (apple etc) in the ash box below the shaker grates, fabricating a rack to be placed in the firebox, you could smoke a half case in 3-4 hours. No need to use the blower, just keep the ash door open a couple...

Burning Coal In a Wood Furnace?

I have supplemented my wood burning with coal this season. I purchased 5 ton of bit and cut my wood consumption by 50%. Good points: Cheaper than wood by weight/btu (dont give me that free speech either folks), easier to feed, burns hotter for longer. Bad points: Dirty, dusty, 2X more...

    Tax deduction for OWB?

Could be. I tend not to ask too many questions regarding taxes. I just supply my signature and check to pay his fee. Besides, $500 really isn't much of a deduction these days. Would prefer it as cash so I can buy some logs....:greenchainsaw:

    Tax deduction for OWB?

Check with YOUR cpa for YOUR specific scenerio. My cpa asked for any changes in 2006, I installed an owb, he gave me the credit. I am not a cpa and suggest you get one. Is it wrong? That's why he makes the big bucks and has professional liability/E&O insurance. I just pay taxes. I thought...

    Tax deduction for OWB?

$500. Used it last year. Check with your CPA for your state specific rules. http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=154657,00.html

Local wood guys are letting me down!!!!

Now that would be a pretty sight. Filling the box with coon carcuses....yuck. Possibly offer a service to your local 'Tony Montana'. Nark or 'take care of the problem' disposal. Whole or in ez to burn 6 pieces. You can charge a premium to billet the problem. The fatter the better. You...

I have something similar right now. Gas powered, pull start. Looking to step up, a few more bells and whistles. Key start is a must. Good link though, thanks.

    Generator advice for my OWB

The purpose for the generator is to run the house, which included the owb, in times when the power goes out. I have the secondary box installed, ready to go. My thread was more to get an opinion of Yanmar products. Compared to a gas model that I already have, diesel runs longer, quieter and...

    Generator advice for my OWB

I hope its ok to post this here. Lots of knowledgable contributers on this forum so I thought it was worth a shot. I have the opportunity to buy a Yanmar key start diesel for a very good price. Only used a couple of hours. I know they make engines for John Deere tractors but not familiar...

M-F 700am 10+/- minutes to load. 530pm 5 minutes to check the fire. 900ishpm 10+/- minutes fill er up. Sat or Sun 10 minutes to clean out ashes. Now if I could get my wife to help out on occasion......

    Considering an OWB

Copper inside? Have you seen how much copper is these days? Go with pex once inside. You can probably borrow a crimper and only need a couple of copper 90's, A LOT cheaper than the old penny metal. The pex in my basement keeps it nice and warm too. Copper is almost non-existant in new home...
