    Unhappy With 390XP Porting Job

Good Luck Dean if you are reading this.

    compression vs. displacement

just an idiot thinking here...... I think why everyone has problems with making power on the big bore kits is simple. A two stroke chainsaw motor forces the air from the crankcase into the cylinder, still with me?, so when you create a larger cylinder volume you in turn have to enlarge the...

    VIDEO hank jr and chainsaws

That 346 still runs as good as the first day it was built:) Hank sr. log train would go good with that I'm thinkin.

    Stihl MS 440 max tuning

Are you doing the work or haveing it sent off?? Well you could start by pulling the limiter caps so you have enough tunability for modifications, then widen the exhaust port and polish it, clean up the transfer ports, open up the intake port, degree the saw to see what kind of timing numbers...

thats right! another porting question topic.

I would just smooth out the casting imperfections if it is your first time. One slip with the grinder and it won't run worth a toot.

    Best Japanese Saw?

Well seeing as you didn't say chainsaw I'll have to go with Komatsu they make one mean processor that should put all the saws you guys named to shame.:sucks: :blob3: :rockn:

Stihl 6 cuber BLK on ebay SWEET!!!!!!!!

How many have ever ran one of these things. There is one on ebay right now under Stihl BLK. Perfect 6 cubic inch motor. Low rever but I bet it makes gobs of torque with that long stroke. What do you guys think of it I am just baffled it's so narly.:givebeer...

    385xp or MS460 ??

046 and heres why. I would go with the 460 because for the extra weight of the 385 I don't really like the way they perform when stock. If your only milling 20" wood I think a well tuned 460 with a loop or two of ripping chain would do just fine. And when you go to limb and cut firewood the...

    Photo comparison between MS440 & MS441

Yea thats pretty much like a 1970 dodge charger and a 1990 Geo Metro one is meant to go fast sound mean and just plain get er done while the other was made to not hurt ears sip fuel save trees (441) and just plain make the government happy.:givebeer:

    Ms660vs056magnum

They are both beasts of saws. They are similar in power and torque on paper but they act different cutting. You have to run them to know what I'm talking about. The 066 is like a sports car revs fast and is light. The 056 mag 2 is like a steam locomotive it takes a bit to rev but once it gets...

    Help...038 bar/sprocket combo

Help is on the way ha ha Stay with the 7 pin sprocket period if the saw is stock. If you ran a 28" bar even with skip chain and a 9 pin sprocket that saw would be a dog in wood over 10". The box or baffles as I call them can come out it's somewhat of a pain but they can be cut out and I would...

    038av fitted with 066 cylinder/piston :-)

Nice try First off the 064 has a 52mm piston to start with and I think the BB kit is more displacement than that but I could be wrong. Next in order to put that topend on that case you would have to change to much to make it worth your while. You would be better off finding a straight gassed...

    Modded Ms660

I'm glad to see you liked your saw Buzz that was a fun one to put together. It's a good feeling when the owners say things like that about the saws WPS produces Thanks.

    Husqvarna 395

I have ran a few stock and then modded. They were all brand new hadn't even been put together yet. With the 395 you can do boost ports if you want to because the angle on the intake is just severe enough. Other than that you can mill the cylinder take the transfers and open then up by boring the...

Question about Big Bores and their resulting performance

Stick with the stocker if it's in good shape. If your stock jug is in good shape which I bet it is then stick with it. At the high elevations in Colorado you won't gain as much with the BB as with the stock jug like what has already been said. I don't run saws at that high of elevation but I...

Ever seen this happen to a piston?

You need to at least hone that cylinder and make sure that the chrome isn't peeling. You can install it without a ring compressor, use a hose clamp to do that but it is tons easier with the plastic compressors. Hope that helps you out.

    Stihl MS460 Muffler

I use the spot weld cutter method too but instead of ripping the top part I use an air body saw to cut them a Jig saw will work too make sure it's mounted in a vise it makes it much easier.:chainsawguy:
